Default Evil Google, Orwellian Android

Just to even things up a bit.

"Isn't it funny that when Apple removes apps from the App Store, a major ruckus rears its head—but when Google removes apps from people's phones, just a few quiet grumblings are heard."

All the negative people use Android, that's why.

Think the comment below it sums it up nicely...

"Removing Apps for security reasons is one thing. Removing Apps because it offers features you don't want your customer to have is something completely different."

I think I'd rather have just one of something than a duplicate with a security risk.

This is just the start for security problems on Android. Google allow the horse out of the paddock before closing the gate, Apple have a nice walled garden, not infallible but on the whole a lot safer.

Wonder what the app was?

I suspect us "root" folk are pretty immune from google zapping anything, considering that most of us are running custom stuff anyway.

Not sure if you are or not, but then you're in a much warmer frying pan anyhow

The extra heat from the Hero overclocked to 690mhz is enough to get the pan almost red in colour
