Decided to have a quick blast on the xbox after logging off from here last night.
Just getting into COD4, when BANG, all the lights go off, then a few
seconds later come back on. (its about 00:40 )
Now this has been happening for a few months now, with the power
tripping out, with either just a few houses, or the whole road going off.
Anyway i looked out the window to see the whole street in darkness, and
flames in front of my neighbors car
Fearing the worst,I shot out with a torch, to find the pavement / drive of
my next door neighbor lifted, and smoke poring out, with a liquid evident
everywhere.
My neighbor came out, but it wasn't his car on fire, but smoke coming out of the pavement.
One 999 call later, and we have the police and the fire brigade on site.
Road lit up like Christmas and they start to lift the loose pavement to find
the source of the smoke
Que a nice big hole full of water![Eek2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek2.gif)
So then its onto SEB, who arrive en masse at 2:00 and promptly start to
dig the pavement up.
Apparently we had a little fire, as they have been known to go up to about
20 feet if its a good one, nice![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Anyway, the water isn't going away, so they have to set up a pump to
drain it, and turn off all the mains to the road. (3:00) lol
All sorts of cables are tucked under there, the BT cables at 6" below the
surface lol, and then lots of wet damp clay/earth.
By 3:00, its evident they going to be at it for some time, so i go to bed
and leave them too it, one half of the drive is blocked, so its fingers
crossed they not going to go the whole way.
8:00
silence ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
we now have a swimming pool at the end of the drive
An 8 foot by 4 foot pool with a newly repaired junction box floating in it lol
the old one had some holes in it.... and water had obviously got into it ...
not a good combination lol
We went out for the day, and my neighbor rang the water board to find
out what was happening...
Came back this evening to find an empty hole![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
2x new stopcocks and a raft of new mains piping to both houses,
Luckily the repair / problem was on the street side![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Hopefully there coming back tomorrow to fill it all in ...
Wonder what can go wrong tonight![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
