Default £116 to cancel my insurance

Hi all wanted to end my insurance on my Vectra but been told i have to pay £116 to cancel, the problem i have is i need my claims bonus for the subaru. what is the problem if i keep paying my £23 a month for the vectra and insure the subaru with the no claims bonus. The Vectra will have a new insurance with my girlfriend. Is this a no no and will i just have to stump up. (there goes the chip)
Thanks Neil

Can you look at a multi-car policy to link the NCD?

Or can you swap the Subaru on to the policy the Vectra is currently on and start another policy for the Vectra?

This is why I always pay insurance in installments.

He said it is a policy that they pay the insurance and then i pay them back so what they are saying is its like a loan. Small print looks like i will have to pay as i need the no claims for the subaru. The subaru insurance is not with them.

Bigforger- This is a pay monthly policy i pay £23 a month

Have you made any claims on the policy? I have heard of somone who made a claim a few months in, then shortly after went to cancel the policy. They were liable for the remainder of the years payments.

If you got your insurance through a broker, you probably won't be paying the £23/month to them, it'll more like be to a finance company. The broker will have paid for the policy up front and you would have to pay the outstanding balance.
At £23/month, do you still have 5 months left? If you're keeping the car and your girlfriend will be using it, is she named on the insurance.

Whether to pay the £116 or carry on paying the £23/month is just a case of simple arithmatic.

Take it as a lesson learnt fella don't switch cars midway through the insurance year or be prepared to get scr*wed!
