Default Any way of telling if a fish is blind...

or thick as fuck? I got myself a Black Moor Goldfish and he doesn't seem to beable to find food so the other fish has most of it eaten before he's had his first piece. The other fish in the tank is also very nosey about whats going on outside the bowl, yet he just dithers about.

Any way of checking if he's blind?

But some glasses on it. If it starts finding the food, it was blind. Or at least partially sighted.

When fish are blind they usually lose the colour. So if a fish is blind in one eye it loses the colour on that side of it's body.

Not sure if that affects black goldfish though - so maybe the reading chart is the best idea.

In my, albeit limited, experience of Goldfish, they've been golden in colour. Going on the above I'd say yours is fooked!

Come to think of it he may not be blind he may just be taking me forra tw*t

Well, take into account all the advice given so far and then pluck said fish from it's domain and whack the twát with a rolling pin. Stop faffing around with it..

Throw some tartar sauce in the bowl. If the other fish swm away from it, but the suspected blind fish eats it, you will know he is blind.

Shepherds do the same but with mint sauce - only the blind sheep try to eat it...

Black-Moors do get blind or get eye problems very commonly. Just feed in two goes, leave the others feed them feed the Blackmoor.

Or the fish could have an eye infection??

Trout is right, I have seen a trout coincidentally which was blind in one eye and it was black all on the blind side.

Sight is important to the fish but they also have a sense of smell. The lateral line along the body also detects vibration and movement near the fish. They also have a sense of taste.

If you smoke and handle the bait or a fishing fly the tobacco taste will put the fish off.
