I'll leave it to you to decide how these might be used, certainly not off road as the page suggests.

Interesting definately!

One good use could be tie in to the security systems so if the car is broken into the reg number is replaced with !!STOLEN!!

What they should now do is split the plate into 3 bands. Such that with any one band switched off you can't get the full number.
Now instead of relying on a person to flip a switch, just cycle the zones quickly enough that a person can't see the strobing(like a telly). No intervention required, and no one will be able to spot that you have a dodgy plate.

Where is that "Idea's that I've had that other people got to first" thread...

I'd prefer to have strategically placed LCDs so you could make the number plate look like something else, e.g. an '8' becomes a '3', 'B' becomes a 'P' or something. Then they'll send the ticket to the wrong person who'll deny they were ever there: everybody's happy.

wow! I had been thinking about LCD plates for a while, but the one problem I always came up against was the physical side, ie; plod pulls you and looks at it. it will not look like a normal plate and I'm sure that this would make it illegal.

aw bullocks!

I was going to invent this!!!!!!!

My idea was to have it similar to a digital clock, so you change your number to whatever you like.....and at certain speeds (user set of course) it read something like 'F**k You'

hehehe - ideal for gatso's I thought!

Bugger!

Question

I think it is similar to that glass you can get which changes from frosted to clear in (expensive) conservatories so it retains an original number plate underneath??

yes - looks like it goes over the existing plate and when you switch it on it goes from clear to black.

Any idea how much they're charging ?

I (like a few other people on here!) thought the same thing years ago, but couldn't afford to do anything about it
I got the idea from automatic welding masks that detect the first flash of striking an arc then black the visor quick enough to stop you even seeing the flash.

Why not add a flash detector so it works automatically for Gatso's? Of course you still need a manual override for non flash photography.

I don’t want to abuse the use of this forum to promote, priva-plate but we are at the Doncaster custom car show for those of you that are interested. Reading the postings is really constructive so if you have any views please drop us a line or carry on using this forum. It's not a cure for cancer, but it is a lot of fun !! So next time one of you serious drivers is up the **** of my TT showing of your superior BHP just watch out for the disappearing plate, it my last line of defence !!!

Default looking for priva-plate

Hi TTBoy, I'm very interested on your priva-plate product and I visited your page to purchase a few, but looks like you closed shop (or perhaps you moved to a secret website that only a select few know about.)
Please contact me at gmail_at_erimisfendiyar.com if your know where I can get some of these LCD obscurers.

I'm probably one of the very few people ever to have had one. I saw the prototype on a Golf in Woodstock, left a note under the windscreen wiper and got one half price. Great idea but so obvious that, as you'd get done for perverting the course of justice if you used it, the fine and points are preferable to a jail sentence.
