Default Had a play with a 9800 Torch

Went into CPW today to look at this thing.

Pretty impressed with it. Very quick touchscreen. Typing experience was good on both hardware keyboard and screen.
Almost iphone like (& as an iphone user, that's a compliment)

Did everything Wifey wanted it to do, and the camera was good quality.
She'll be getting one when her contract is up.

In all fairness, so will I when my iphone contract is up.
Nothing has impressed me as much - not even iphone4.

The one I was playing with was fresh out of the box (s/ware update maybe?)

it seemed no big upgrade from when i had a 8900 apart from touch screen.

i feel new blackberry phones are underspecced for new phones only a 480x360 screen no hd video recording.

this phone i was playing with she got it that day but didn't check the f/w version

ahh righto. Hadn't played with an 8900. Only an old curve (IIRC).

The HD video thing seems a superfluous (imho) - as for being underspecced, I had a play with a Galaxy, and I personally found the experience rather wierd (almost iphone-ish) - the actual usefulness of the phone was buried beneath a veneer of shiny trinket ****.

The 'berry seemed alot more "let's not **** about - here's a phone that does what you actually want it to do. If you want a full on media centre, go buy something else!"

All IMHO, of course

Yeah but to be fair it wouldn't matter if it could give you the world's best blow job as you will never look at it impartially as it has no Apple logo on it.

Had mine for a few weeks now. Battery life is shocking, but better than my iPhone 3GS.

Needs some better apps (GPS for walking/cycling mainly), and I'd happily never use the iPhone again.

I still think a 9700 with OS 6 will be my ideal smart phone.

I didn't say it was poor i said they've not moved far from the 8900 which i did enjoy using for the 12 months I had one.

I also think the windows 7 phones look good and would be a competitor but i suppose you have a selective memory.

How is that not saying it was poor?

Although given your iffy grammar there it could read that you were having a 'go' with two or more of your aunties Whatever floats your boat

What can I say we like to keep it in the family.

It's my opinion I have used one unlike some other peoples opinions.

Just ignore f1_fan. He spots a phone thread, then starts shouting that everyone and anyone is a "Fanboy". If you search Google for 'Anti-Fanboy' it points to his profile.

You're late

Come on then start telling us all how good the iPhone is and how poor the Blackberry is. We all know it's coming and I am sure there must be just one person on here who hasn't experienced your unique brand of tosh. Don't forget to use words like gamechanger, to tell us how every other device has taken every single feature from Apple ... oh and how much they love their customers too.

Agreed mate. Not bothered with a Torch myself, want to see how OS6 is going to run on the. 9700 too. Worst case, the 9780 is out in Nov complete with 512 and os6

After having had a play with a torch too, I have to say you are right, there are strong similarities, they are both blackberry's and both do want they were designed to do well lol.

With the success of the 8900, I think the plan was not to stray too far.
That said, the OS6 aspect is a "game changer" for RIM, although there are some minor annoyances on it for me at the mo.

As far as blackberry go, I still prefer the original form of the 9700 over the slider any day

All that said and done.... For people who like what blackberry do, the torch is brilliant.
