Why do I work better after a few glasses of wine? ;)
Last night my colleagues came around and all were driving, one wanted a glass of wine, the rest of the bottle is open, and I'm off from the doctoring job today, so I had the luxury of starting to drink in the morning LOL.
Now I feel very productive. I might not be, but I feel it
Yes I'm a lightweight, one glass and I'm bonkers. Mind you, these glasses do take about half a litre!

I have to ask... Why did you even want to drink in the morning? The excuse 'because I can' only applies if you are unemployed, abroad or 15 years old.

Or have a day off and the wine needs to be drunk Something to do whilst making lunch. It was 1155, but never tried drinking in the morning before.
Suddenly rubbish TV becomes interesting. Quite an insight.
Think I'd get bored in a few weeks if I didn't work.

I don't think I've ever drunk in the morning no matter if I've got an open bottle of wine. Wine can be put away and saved for the next evening, it doesn't HAVE to be drunk, you could even throw it away.
Sorry, but it sounds like you have a problem!

Wife is away on a conference about dolphins so she can't help me, and the cat doesn't drink, wine saver is rubbish, it is too nice to throw away and if I drink it tonight I won't get up tomorrow for work as I only usually drink about 5 units a week and have no tolerance whatsoever.
A unique problem and a very good excuse for drinking in the morning Just wanted to try it to know what it felt like. 36 going on 13 I think, I was rather straightlaced as a youngster.
I can see how retired people end up like respectable alcoholics though.

A glass of wine at lunchtime on a day off with no driving can put a rosy tint on the rest of the day, don't see a problem. If anyone calls round though they will assume you are an alcoholic! When I was working as an English assistant in a French school as part of my degree we had red wine on the teacher's tables every lunchtime. Helped me through many an afternoon teaching the little *****.....sorry merdes!

I was once off redundant for 3 months on gardening leave so wasn't allowed to work, just sit at home and be paid. As you say day time telly is rubbish so I tried stella for breakfast a few times and it worked a treat for brightening the day up, and the telly (this was before wife and kids)

I assume you have no dependants who may require your assistance?
Nowhere to go all day, and no way of leaving it until tonight?
Also, I didn't think wine went off in 24 hours? I have drank a bottle over 3 evenings before, and it has never been any different on the 3rd night to when it was opened.
Perhaps you are a bit of a wine connoisseur and you can see the subtle difference? But as you said you are a bit of a lightweight I doubt it.
Doesn't it feel a bit sad drinking alone before noon?
Is this a cry for help, do you have any psychological issues?
Please visit the 'men are better than women' thread and prove to Pete there are exceptions to the rules.

No dependants except the cat Wife has left me for a dolphin conference
I'd not drink it until the weekend and then it would be nasty.
House is nice and tidy, all the work I have to do is waiting for someone else. I've even been doing some washing, and managed to soak the floor, but that is man rather than machine or alcohol related
I quite enjoy a bit of time by myself, quite rare to find it.

I used to work nights, and get home around 6am, and would often have a few beers before going to bed, I know this isnt quite the same but I would get some funny looks when people walked past as I was cleaning the car at 7am with a Stella in my hand

Everytime I've been up to Murrayfield (Edinburgh...) for the rugby, I've always had a pint or two with ma breakfast in a pub.
Makes a refreshing change necking a nice Guinness with a full Scottish at 10 am

Is it possible that it just relaxes you a bit, lifts your spirits (pardon the pun) enough to make you that little bit more jolly. So while you may not be being much more productive, you feel like you are/everything doesn't seem so much of a chore or boring? Just a thought.
I can sometimes be more sensible after a couple of drinks, or at least it seems like that to me.
I don't know why people are being so harsh about this though. Having a little wine near lunch time while having a bit 'him time' is hardly a problem. Especially given he's already said he hardly drinks.

I hope you've adjusted your unit intake in your 'Adult Health Template' in EMIS!

LOL, we just got EMIS and the appointments book and prescribing are terrible compared to the previous system, rocks otherwise though.
I wasn't more productive after all, DCI was correct, but I've been more productive this evening, but I'm always an owl.

I don't do coding and summarising now (I've gone back to my 'proper' job ). Although I might be able to help you out if needed........
