Default Explain exactly how the apple ipod works.

This is one for jack, ive given you an open oppertunity here to say how great apple are

I'm not a big fan of apple but i'm considering getting an ipod, a relative bought a nano recently and they seem to be decent at what they do.

What i need to know is this, if you already have a load of MP3`s on your pc can you transfer them onto the ipod or has apple got this boxed off where you can only download stuff via itunes. Does it have to be jail broke to do this ?

I plan on getting a 32GB touch version, either a 4th or 3rd gen. While i`m here, whats the sound level like on an ipod through a decent set of headphones ?

You just point iTunes to a directory full of music and it will load them onto your iPod.

The volume level is very good.

If you can stretch to it I would recommend the iPhone with a year-long free Internet.

Install iTunes, import your music. Plug in your iPod and anything in iTunes will be on your iPod. Simple. It'll also transfer and keep in sync your mail accounts, bookmarks and many other things

Ive not owned any apple products before so its not a case of swapping anything over, i need to know if you can put your own MP3`s onto an ipod rather than having to download everything from itunes.

You will need to install iTunes (free) and copy your music into iTunes Music Library which will then be transferred to the iPod.

I am not an Apple fan boy, but I will say that as far as MP3 players go, iPods are top class.

Don't know about the way they work, but I find the sound quality through a pair of Sennheiser CX870s to be nice and clear, even on turboprop aircaft

Of coure, that's an arbitrary opinion, I've never tried anything other than my ipod

My Ipod Nano is a few years old now and it just wont die. I very rarely use it because I find Itunes to be a pain in the hole to use, I just can't use it to my advantage. The sound quality isn't bad, its just not good, my old I-River sounded a trillion times better.
