Wink What the Americans thought of Brown during September 2008

At the peak of the financial crisis this is what was written about Brown in the US...

"The Brown Government has shown itself willing to think clearly about the financial crisis, and act quickly on its conclusions. And this combination of clarity and decisiveness hasn't been matched by any other Western government, least of all our own."

So there you have it - Gordon did indeed save the world!!!!

LOL - what was Maggie T's quote?

Something along the lines of "The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money".

Great to see Maggie holding forth again, and telling us what would happen if we kowtowed to the Eu. How right she was , we see it happening now and they are getting stronger too. How right she was about Federation being the death knell of democracy too.

When I mention that we meed a strong leader who supports this country, that is exactly what I mean instead of those who have no bottle any more-"Weak as water" I remember her saying once! Spot on!

The redistribution of wealth agenda of Labour means as she says, kill the wealth and we all get poorer. Big mistake!

That is sweet.
It seems oxymoronic to note that one of the best ways to keep people poor is to throw money at them.
Look at southern Italy as an example of this phenomena as well as many of the "welfare class" in this country.

Don't hold back now

It seems perfectly reasonable with the virtue of hindsight to debate a view that was prevalent at the time, held by a key ally. It brings a very different perspective.

I make no observation as to whether is a virtuous judgement and put it to the Snet public to air their views on what is a hugely polarising topic.

Brown dithered with Northern Rock.

IMHO even when the crisis was at it's zenith and they bailed the banks out they were being reactive. It's been reactive from day one when they slackened the regulation.
