I find it impossible to name my favourite band ever. The Clash would be on the shortlist. So sad when Strummer died, killed off my chance of ever seeing them perform live.

Not some of their best there Mr Habgood IMO, much prefer Revolution Rock, 1977, The Prisoner, City of the Dead, Complete Control, Clash City Rockers, Spanish Bombs.....................**** I could go on and on.

Best ever

One of the best bands ever as far as I'm concerned.

Quite a diverse body of work from the thrash of White Riot to reggae of Police and Thieves and various points inbetween.

I think I might just play all of the albums this weekend (and yes, even Cut the Cr*p).

Been a fan for over thirty years now, Saw them live in 82 on the Combat Rock tour at Leeds Uni , Joe had the Mohican and Topper had been fired for Heroin abuse , So not exactly in their prime , But Combat Rock was a great album although I still don't like " Should I say or Should I go "

Can still remember them banging out tracks like Garageland /Career Opportunities and Clash City Rockers to this day . T'was a night to remember

Joe's favourite Clash song was "White Man" although I hardly play it , Don't know why though its a classic track , My favourite is " Safe European Home " and always has been since "Give em enough Rope" was released Think it stands the test of time like no other song for me , Also makes a great ring tone

Listened to lots of music over the years and I always come back to the The Clash and Joe , who for me was the best front man out there and a great lyricist to boot. I'll never forget the night he died though as our house got broken into and the keys for my Golf GTi was stolen , So I will always remember that night as well .... Rip Joe and GTi

In my opinion every music fan should have at least "London Calling" and "The Clash" in their collection which I think are the bands best work with Joe and Mick in working together at their very best.

Not even bothered to look at the links the OP as posted .. I've seen them all But in my view the film "Rude Boy" show the band at their very best with some great live footage of the band in the late seventies. Although the rest of the film as some dire acting and poor story line , But it does show what Britain was like in the late Seventies. So well worth a look if your into the band.

I disagree, they have dated terribly...the whole radical lefty political slant is irrelevant now and a bit embarrassing, a kind of adolescent lefty-politics of ignorance. Strummer wearing a T-shirt showing support for Baader-Meinhof etc etc. Cringeworthy. Pseudo-intellectual posers.

It's fantastic. I've been playing White Man on the acoustic today, along with Complete Control and London Calling, completely oblivious to this thread. Also just had "The Story of the Clash" CD on in the scoob for the first time in ages. The intro to WMIHP is sublime - the guitars so loud, raw, in your face and slightly out of tune is just so uncompromising it really tugs at my heartstrings. Not a lot of other music gets me like that.

You wouldnt mind quite so much if the only song you ever hear from them wasnt ALLWAYS
'Londons burning' , which is tedious enough of its own

I remember listending to John Lydon on a radio interview on XFM a while ago, Alex Zane played 'I fought the law', and as the music faded Lydon sneers, "I fought the law? Did he F**k!"

You could hear Zane audibly gulping on air. Very funny I thought.

For a start "I fought the Law" wasn't a Clash song , But a great cover from them As for Lydon , well does he have a good word to say about anyone ? Comes across as an arrogant tosser to me who still milks his 12 months of notoriety in 1977

Not sure what Radio Station you listen to ? But I can't remember the last time I heard Londons Burning on the Radio certainly not in this century. London Callling gets quite a lot of air play and for good reason its a classic record that will stand the test of time for years to come.

You mean the RAF T shirt ? (Red Army Faction ) Whilst wearing T Shirts today supporting terrorism wouldn't be accepted The punk era was all part of not being accpeted and to get people to sit up and take notice and listen , Just like the "God Save the Queen" thing with the Pistols.

They really were excellent, considering the singer was totally tone deaf. He never, ever sang in key
I had, "Should I stay or should I go" as my ringtone, for a while.

Caught BAD live as well at the same venue , I think Joe helped produce the first BAD album

Jones is now with a new band called Silicon Carbide with the guy from Generation X .

Also I watched a clip the other week with Mick and Paul playing with Damon Albarn and the Gorillaz.

Remembering the lyrics was never a strong point either with Joe (Does cannabis affect the memory ? )

Sorry, Lee, but you're dead wrong. His wasn't the most tuneful voice in the history of music, but it was certainly in key.

Carbon Silicon

JS produced 'No 10 Upping St' IIRC. Certainly the best BAD album I have.

MJ should do a Sigue Sigue Sputnik (remember them?) type project with Tony James .
