Default AA or RAC

I was a member of the AA for 20 years until we emigrated, now we are back I called them up and asked if I could come back on the same terms, long standing customer and all that, oh how they laughed.
Looking online both AA and RAC are the same price for 2 cars, home, roadside and recovery.

So who should I go with AA who laugh at loyalty or move over for some orange at RAC

AA cover you in any vehicle, think RAC is just the vehicle.

Green Flag would be my first choice, followed by RAC but never the AA.

Basically for the same reasons you state above.....

I don't know where people get this idea of loyalty from? Companies don't care about you, just your money and sometimes they won't even take that from you if they feel you are going to be a royal pain in the ****.. Also you are wasting their money and staff time when ring them up telling them about how loyal you've been so they really hate you for that.

Hmm, that is short sighted. I suppose certain types of business don't have to care, but I can assure you that I certainly do. Loyalty goes a long way, quite a few of my customers no longer even put work out to tender, they just call me. That loyalty is worth a lot to me.

RAC cover the member rather than the car same as AA,
I've been with both and had to call both out at some point or other.
My personal opinion is go with which ever is the best deal, both offer the same service which in my experience have both been good.

Actually thinking about it when the RAC recovered me due to the engine throwing a spark plug out on a rover 75, they took me to their own garages, repair cost a veryy reasonable £60 as the thread was gone and needed re threading and the garage gave me a courtesy car for free for 24hrs.

Go for the best deal, I get AA cover through my bank account now

Its not short sighted, its pretty much how things work. I hear customers battering on about being loyal customers for years etc all the time. Oddly these are the same customers than try and screw us out of every penny. Would they be Loyal still if our prices were the similar to other vendors? doubt it.

My AA policy came up for renewal and it covers me so I can callout on the car or motorbike. £169 for the renewal which they said was automatic and I couldnt ring the bastads to cancel it (cos no sod was answering the customer service phones due to the incredibly high volume of breakdowns).

Eventually I sent them an e-mail telling them to shove the renewal where the sun doesn't shine and got the same cover from the RAC for less than £90

ive just gone with Axa £60 a year for the lot incl abroad use (via comparison site)

Someone told me recently that the RAC charge you if you have an accident and they come out! (or was it the AA, he worked for one and called the other anyway!)

I'm with the AA and the RAC
I generally find the AA more professional..

RAC via Tesco Vouchers. AA via whatever deal I can find

I need both because I own (shudder) an old Subaru.. and if the Gearbox breaks, or something else goes.... we all know that it can take weeks to sort out because one specialist or the other cant take the car.. so you have to have it towed home.. and then I use the other for the transport to another place... several years ago it wasnt like that

Im with the AA, Ive used them twice in previous cars and they were outstanding. The last time I used them was when I had a seriously costly and unreliable Astra sri turbo, the AA man that recovered me advised Jap cars are the way foward and that he has a Subaru
