Default What's good north of Southport, south of Blackpool?

Part of the coast I don't know, but next week wifey is off on ANOTHER jolly with the school so I'm sick of it and might just have a couple of days over there in an hotel.

Any advice gladly received, including, "Don't do it!!!!!!!"
