My question would be, what possible good is it to the general public to tell us this information, there is nothing we can do with this information, unless the whole purpose is to keep the general public scared and more receptive to laws that relinquish our freedoms.

Terrorist threat level up.
Flu vaccine shortage and people in intensive care.
The government obviously want us all worried about anything but the economy, the ongoing saga with IPSA (HoC expenses committee), the Euro being on the brink, *inconvenient* cold weather over most of the planet spoiling their plans to introduce more GW b*llsh!t tax, etc etc

I think we have to trust the police and the intelligence authorities if they say there is a severe threat of any kind of terrorist attack. They are of course privy to information which we are not and which could not be published because of the obvious risk to the sources of that information.
The control order business is a difficult one when related to our traditional attitude to the freedom of the people. Maybe we have to ask ourselves that in the current climate, especially with the uncontrolled immigration of the past years, whether we should instigate a different approach for the safety of the people and with terrorism in mind.

Hmmm. I'm not too impressed with the control order thing but otoh 7/7 proved we have a major terrorist threat.

I'm really uncomfortable with such a transgression by the government on our freedoms but otoh I believe we face a grave threat.
There must be a better way though?

Do you really think that it will fool the British public, ten percent are too smart, 40 percent dont care and 40 percent are more interested in what Cheryl Cole is up to this week.
The rest are too busy adding up percentages.....

Of course there is a threat as we are part of the self imposed World Police occupying two countries illegally, but the point here is both this and the last government have a vested interest in keeping the population scared so they can justify more and more intrusion into our lives and control over them.
All they want us to be bothered about are a few disaffected extremists when the real problem is the EU and UK government systematically eroding all of our civil liberties

They have been shown to tell lies, have an agenda and do EXACTLY as their paymasters tell them.

9/11 happened before 'we' went into Iraq and Afghanistan and the people who did 7/7 were British.

I trust the Terrorists (and their sympathisers) less.

9/11 proves the antipathy that the Islamists have towards the West is not driven by Iraq.

Where is the terrorist threat coming from then,
A/ Jews
B/ Hindu's
C/ Sikhs
D/ Christians
E/ Muslims
Not trying to be contreversial but that is the long and the short of it, people of the Muslim faith, radicalised or whatever are the ones under scrutiny, that isnt singling them out unfairly as they now have a track record of succesful and devastating attacks and a few notable failures, now I dont think we have doen anything to make them stop in terms of foreign policy so it stands to reason that it is probably them we are on about, sorry if its so predictable and boring but I would prefer to know if the secuirty forces think an attack is likely so I can perhaps decide for myself where to go as I prefer not being blown up if its allt he same with you, I take that quite seriously, like I did when it was the IRA at it.
