Default Insurance - fine art of smoke and mirrors

Just looking to renew the insurance on the wife's car, (average 1.8 jap saloon)

We both have max no claims bonus on each of our own policy's, , but Ive
had two claims. The usual suspects throw up quotes ranging from £300 to £1400 (lol)..bit of a jump from her last renewal of £180!

Did some digging around and found by going direct to company A, i can get the premium down to £233, great ....

Erm ..No, as ive got an current open claim, the premium goes up to £260, not too bad....but!! they then wont give her any protection on her no claims ??

Laughably if i remove myself from the policy, it goes up to £288?? work that one out

So undeterred, i did more surfing... and found another company, (company B) who will cover us both, and with my open claim and protected for £254, not too bad

Now what makes the whole thing laughable is, company B is a subsidiary of company A

Yet both company's come up with very high quotes when run through comparison sites

And they say there competitive

I always add my mother on my policy and it is guaranteed to be cheaper. Try it.

Doesn't always work. Some companies will even charge more, although yes... some may give a discount.
