Did anyone watch this ?

My Gran used to date a bloke that survived the torpedo and I've heard about it since I was very young.

He's actually on TV tomorrow night 7.30 BBC 2 talking about it, he's 87..

Smoked his whole life and is remarkable for his age.

Anyone who watch the two part story will appreciated what he went through .. looking forward to him having his moment, 70 years on.

Excellent, I'll be watching that tomorrow. Makes you think about the human side for the Germans as well. Sure there would be dedicated '*****', but also a lot of people just doing what they had to. And looking at their history before Hitler it's not difficult to understand how he ended up with such support. Very good two-parter!

A friend of our family wrote the book that the two-parter was based on. Unfortunately he died a few years ago so never got to see it brought to the screen but is named in the credits so is nice for his family.

Fascinatiing story. Good to know that someone had a conscience and thought for others for the right reasons.

I was sorry to hear that the commander lost his life later during the war.

Yes and enjoyed it but appreciated the tragedy of it all. The comments seemed to confirm the authenticity of the film/documentary.

I am ashamed to say that this was part of history I knew nothing about.
