The PDC is a much better now though than the BDO, sky (as much as I dislike them) have taken it to another level. The standard is a lot higher as well.

Intresting point, I remember darts during the 80`s where the likes of Jockey Wilson would scoop a pretty cool 8 pints of lager during a match, yet still manage to play well.
Now I don't recall any other forms of sport which would let a sportsman play half pished, I know that drinking is not allowed nowadays but has darts always been a sport or is it just since they have banned drinking has it become a sport?

Classic sketch.
I know it gets a bit of bad press, but tell you what - I'd love to soak up the atmosphere at the Lakeside during the championship.
All together now LET'S PLAYYY DAARRTTS!!

I went and watched a few of my mates play a north v south pro-am back in the days 4 amateurs played best of 10 frames each and Bill Werbeniuk played Geoff Foulds in the final best of 11 decider. This was in the Ron Gross snooker centre in Neasden.
Bill Werbeniuk drank over 30 pints of lager, won the match and drove back home to Worksop.

Darts IS a sport, as classed by HMRC.
If you have to pay tax on anything earned playing a game then it's classed as a sport.
As such, games like (online) gambling aren't taxed.

I can only imagine HMRC did this in order to raise a bit of cash rather than anything to do with the merits of the game being a sport.

Pontificating
Wouldn't be much of one as they hold it at Ally Pally nowadays, I know what you mean though, the boys keep saying we should go for a lads night out but I can think of better ways of spending £75 especially for a "Sporting" event.
