Default What's the biggest national car magazine(s) ???

Hi guys

looking for some advice please:

I need to start looking at a magazine advertising campiagn for the new website (www.CarCarGalore.com) to try and get national awareness for it.

Im only really familiar with my usual Jap car mags which aren't going to reach the mass market.

Can anyone let me know what are the biggest mass interest car magazines?

The only ones i can think of that might be worthwhile are What Car and Top Gear ....

Cheers guys

I'm pretty sure AutoExpress somehow has the largest circulation for a weekly.

Top Gear for a monthly.

Auto trader could be a good place to start.

Thanks mate - I dont think we'd get in to Autotrader or Pistonheads as it'll be a "conflict of interest"!!

good point mate - and exactly what we've started with

have gone to all local car dealers to try and establish the stock on there.... as you say people dont want to travel all over the country (maybe for a specialst modified car)

the awareness is our biggest hurdle so just hoping that a national campaign will penetrate more than a local one?

obviously TV would be great, if funds permitted!!

Your target seems to be motoring magazines which is the obvious choice but you then join the myriad of other ads offering the same deal. Had you considered getting away from that and advertising in other mags that won't have 20 pages of car ads but read my people that may want a car but are not petrol-heads and would not automatically go to AutoCar etc. Say Saga magazine with large circulation mostly older readers who may have a few bob to spend getting a second car or one for their kids?

And, with respect, can I say that I think your site must be clearer about vehicle location.

I think also that you need to put in an introduction to your company and why customers should use you. Quality cars, Warranty, after care etc. The usual bulls, hit Same as that company in Crawley that advertises on TV.

Final point - if I have to ask a question I want to pick up the phone and talk to somebody and not send an e-mail and wait for a reply

Thanks for your advice

Can i ask what you mean about vehicle location? we do have a distance selector which shows how far each car is away from your house etc. Do you mean it should say something like "west sussex" under the price maybe?

Regards the introduction, we have written all that in the "about us" page - our main aim was to keep it clean, and clutter free, making it really easy to navigate

totally understand your final point, but we are online pretty muxch 24 hours a day - if an email is sent its replied to almost immediately. We are essentially a platform to buy cars on (like autotrader) and our mission is to make that process easy and hassle free.

Fair enough - you've put me in my place really. I didn't go to About Us as it is in the detail at the bottom. The location thing is reached by going to the Advanced Search button and, again. I didn't go there when I first had a look - I just did a search on a couple of vehicle types. But it is a nice clean site as you say and I hope it all goes well

I also appreciate the phone/e-mail thing. Just a reflection of my own views being a lazy-want-to-get-on-with-it type. I guess the discipline of the e-mail route also cuts out many time wasters But does it take less staff to tap out an e-mail reply rather than speak on the phone?

God, sorry to say this, but what a hideous site layout..! Why waste all the space and have me scrolling through one word brands in the middle of the screen?

Oh, and consistent correct spelling of brands would be good. Ducatti/Ducati and Caviga ??

thanx for all the pm's guys....

have had good quotes back from Car, Top Gear and Auto Express so hoping to be able to negotiate rates to be able to use all 3.

combined readership is around 2 million a month which is ideal..
