Another case of the 'establishment' closing ranks, over reacting & protecting themselves.
Police said his actions "could have resulted in catastrophic injury".

Jailed for 2 years 8 months.

What do the pis*ed -up chavs get for driving with no license,Tax,insurance etc with a massive history of previous offences? Would not their actions be covered by the same statement , "could have resulted in catastrophic injury".?

I don't agree with what the student did but it really annoys me when I see the massive disparity in how people are treated depending on class or in this case, impact on the establishment

Aye, 2 yrs 8 months effectively for endangering life, no-one was ACTUALLY injured.

Chaytor: 18 months for effectively nicking £18,000.

Massive disparity.

Commit a crime against the establishment / property and feel the full weight of the law

Commit a crime against another member of society, slap on the wrist

What would he have got if he'd pilfered 18k from one of the political partys?

("I would ask those intent on causing violence and undermining those committed to peaceful protest to reflect on today's outcome.")

This must be a warning to all us motorists, just incase we decide to kick off about the fuel hikes

To be honest, I think the sentence is way over the top. I admire the students for making the stand they did. OK, it got out of hand but at least they showed their disgust at the Government.

Was a bloody stupid thing to do, although the sentence appears excessive - Judge said he was making an example of him (after thanking his mum for persuading him to give himself up - bet she regerets it now!)

I'm in two minds if it's an excessive sentence or not.

On the one hand yes, no one was hurt but the intent was there (if it wasn't why throw it?).

On the other hand, we all bleat about deterrent sentencing for someone carrying a knife.
Either can kill - and when someone carrying a knife is only given 6, 12 months we all shout that they should have got longer.

Damned if you do.....

Did you see the size of that extinguisher? There has to be something wrong to think its ok to chuck one of those from that height into a crowd of people. I think he got off light, how would he be feeling if it had actually hit someone, let alone the punishment.

Lee your right.

The sentence is only this long because they rioted against the establishment, it is to teach the masses not to challenge the privileged liberal minority that run the country

Looks like that to me. The Students stood their ground and showed disgust. OK, as I said before, over the top, but who can blame them. It's about time a few more of us started to fight back instead of just taking it on the chin and doing nothing about it. The last few years have been hard, and it is going to get harder, but why don't they tackle the real problems instead of going after easy targets.

That is quite a long sentence, but basically dont go hoofing heavy objects off tall buildings, silly tosser, its like stuff being chucked off motorway bridges and I would want those idiots banging up for two years when they do that.

Could have hit anyone, could have been you, didnt give a f*ck at the time, to busy being all anarchic.

On the plus side, he has saved 18 grand in tuition fees and still managed to waste two years and come away with nothing.

Errrr, I was on about the Government using easy targets. Motorist, fuel tax, vat increase. Not tackling the real issues of money spends, scroungers, squatters, benefit thieves, etc, etc.
What he did was wrong, but I can understand where they are coming from.
You have totally missed my point
