Apathetic population.
So the entire nation is being shafted by higher fuel prices. Those of us who drive, no matter how fugal a vehicle, have seen more of our money go into petrol costs. Those that don't drive are seeing rising costs of everything delivered by road, as the cost is passed onto the consumer. What has the Govt done about it, nothing, except say they're looking into the fuel stabilser but it's "proving difficult"
Edited to add NL weren't any better. Hopefully this will appease ***** like Stilover below.
Then we have the forest sell off. This affects primarily the chattering classes who love going for a horse ride in the wild. Scrapped. The Govt admits "we got it wrong".

selling the forests off involves more than just the horsey set, ramblers, green laners and just those who want to go for a walk/ride with the family.
I do think that it is coming to a flashpoint with how prices are going up and services going down/cut and people getting a little tired of hearing ''we are in it together'' bollox so we can be bent over a little further and butt-fecked a little harder!
I also think that generally people are also a little tired of being told what to say, do and think and have our laws dictated to us by Europe!
Something is going to have to give...

I jsut drive less, which means i spend less since most of the time i'm driving to work, or the shops....So the shops lose my trade as do the forecourts, hence the economy gets further from its goal, and nearer to higher inflation and a double dip......ah the viscous circle ensues!

1) Get out of Europe and put a brake on entry to unskilled EU citizens
2) Get out of Afghan' as soon as
3) Cancel Trident and stop trying to be a world power (what's the point?)
4) Stop flaffing around with silly things like "The Big Society" and flogging the Oaks
5) Get a real grip on top level public sector management
6) Invest in the things UK is good at like medical research and alternative energy creation
I suppose it's too late to cancel the Olympics
That would be a start

Also google "charity starts at home" and " India can afford to host a money earning commonwealth games, and build and Formula 1 track but still need a billion from our pocket".....When will we learn we are not a super power, we are a tiny island. Worry about ourselves, like feking New Zealand for example.....good standard of life, lower crime, tight imigration control....happy days...who would give a *** if we had lower incomes, and a tiny seat at the "world table" if we paid less tax, and our woman could raise our kids without us all having to kill ourselves working like dogs.....

I know, the trouble is I just hate it when someone comes along who can do patronsing so much better than me
On a more serious note I maybe wrong here, but I don't think this thread has quite gne the way you intended. I guess you weren't taking a swipe at any government or political party as much as at the people who are happy to moan on fourms and the likes about fuel costs yet not actually do anything and drawing a parallel with those who got a petition of half a million signatures against the forestry sell off.
Whilst it is tempting to say that the governement were only looking after their own that was some petition and I do wonder what could be achieved if even only a relatively small percentage of the motorists of the UK could co-ordinate something on a proportional scale.
