Default Thruxton Driving Experiences

Anyone done one in the last couple of years? Im on their mailing list and they have some good last minute deals so fancy popping down with my brother to do a few laps in a Gallardo or R8. Some places you hear that the intstructor makes you change up at 4000 rpm or similar. I had a mate who went about 5 yrs back and did a 911 TT experience and thought he was going fast until the instructor told him to nail it.

Quite like the idea of the Tiff Needell M3 experience - 3 laps 1on1 with Tiff going sideways for £140

I went a couple of years back with my 2 sons. Great experience. My eldest drove Lambo Murcielago LP640 and he was encouraged to give it "some beans". I drove an Aston Vantage V8 was told to back off a bit............ when the rain came down, which is understandable I suppose

Experience as follows.
3 sighting laps with driver in a Mazda 2 MPS
5 laps (driving with an instructor) in Porche Cayen
5 laps (driving with and instructor) Vantage V8
5 laps in a Formula Renault. Fantastic fun!!!!!!!
Plus we bought bonus laps on the day in cars of our choice which included
a Porche 997 Turbo

Cheers Chaps.

Malc - so there was no silly rules like you must keep it below 4000rpm or 100mph etc?

I drove the V8 Vantage at a track up north and it didnt light my fire. Felt like Jelly and actually thought I could have lapped faster in my Civic Type R. Did a few flying laps in the V8 R8 and that was awesome.

No silly rules as such. I think they tend to assess you as driver. If they feel confident they will push you on. Have to say I felt the same way about the Aston. Not overly impressed with Cayman either. Formula Renault was great fun though

I did the M3 racemaster at Oulton Park last year and loved it. Was there for a few hours, cant remember how many laps it is but you get to go out twice and then a lap with a pro driving.

So no issues with them restricting rpm or top speed etc? I just read some older reviews on Pistonheads where people had said this was the case.

When I ring them up to book I will also ask just to see what they say.

I always enjoyed driving at Thruxton, wan't so far to drive then either.

I well remember that flat out right hander on the back straight with the bump which used to make you suck your teeth a bit. Maybe they have ironed it out now.
