Default Sky Multiroom question.

Chap at work's Daughter has moved out and as such he doesn't need Multiroom anymore. If he phones Sky and asks for the Multiroom subscription to end, what's stopping him from continuing to use it. In my eyes, wouldn't they have to come and change the LNB on the dish?

they just cancel the subscription to the card, luckily he'll still beable to use the box to pick up freeview channels so if needs must he can use that box to watch the phonesex channels.

May get a snobby letter asking for it to be reconnected to the phone line. In which case, bring box the back for a week and connected it up so it can 'phone home'.

Whatever you do do not connect the box to the phone line at the new house.

You can tell them it is never connected to a phone line. Mine isn't at my flat, as when I moved in I didn't have a phone line, and I had to pay £10 or something for the privilege.

Also, I know two fishing trawlers which have a Sky box on. They pay for it via their home....on multi-room

Ping test via the phone line?

Mine, and the two trawlers are all separate examples. So only one box on their multi room...

yes sky send a signal to the box through the phone line and if they don't get a response from the box they try again if it fails they send a letter warning you to attach it or pay full price sub/box.

If they have multi room they'll end up having to have it connected eventually , it's all down to when sky can be arsed to check it.

It is my job to know this afterall....

It depends on the contract you agree to when getting a second box and if its on the 'sky multi-room' discount scheme.

I know the 'discounted' multiroom contract stipulates that both boxes must be connected to the same phone line all the time. As per terms and condition of the contract, if you breach it they get snobby about it (hence the letters).

If you signed up under different contractural terms without the multi-room discount, then this may not apply....in other words, read the small print

Yeah, to be honest I don't know what they signed up to. But speaking to them, they had multi-room installed in each of their houses, then took the box and card on to the boats with them, and have done for years.
They may get letters, I'm not too sure....

Serious question, but how the hell do they ever get a decent picture? strong winds and heavy rain/spray? plus the dish is moving constantly

It's not always rough I think it's mainly when they are trawling, as it isn't the fastest operation on earth.....although not sure if they have something motorised?! I will have to ask them.

Neither of our boxes are connected to a phone line and one of them is multi-room.

We have never had a letter asking to connect any of them and never had to pay anything due to them not being connected.
