Default Plasma Telly - How long to wait for prices to come down?

Since our extension was finished last December it's been crying out for a nice big flat panel TV to go on the wall. Now we've sufficiently recovered financially from the building work itself I'm itching to make a purchase

Kind of settled on a Panasonic 50" plasma, they launched their new range recently and the TX-P50VT30B looks to be the dogs. Already from the launch price of well over £2k it's down to around £1800 with some retailers. The previous model (TX-P50VT20B) seems to go for around £1300.

Should I be patient an wait a month or two in the hopes it drops to £1600 or less or is that unlikely until the next new model comes out?

Buy the previous model and save £500 the differences would be minor to warrant the £500 difference.

The previous model had a few well documented "issues" (though to be honest you'd probably need to be a home cinema expert to notice), the new models are better....

New models always hit the shops between Feb and Mar, so quite a wait for decent discounts. I'm thinking of letting my son launch a toy through our 4.5yo screen and getting a new one through the insurance

Must be worth waiting for a bit with the present problems in the retail trade.
