3.0 V6 Turbo Ford KA!!!
My mate turned up yesterday in the car he`s been building, he originally had a Vauxhall 2.5 V6 in it and the head gasket went. So he was speaking to me and wanted to know about power increases (I had a V6 3.0 Vectra at the time), and I said to him the 3.0 was the same externally as the 2.5, and they are 40bhp more.
So off he toddled and got one, about 4 months later he asked if I could pop over to fit and time up the timing belt, when I got there he had spacer plates under the heads, and I asked wtf they were for and he smirked and walked off, then came back with an Escort Cosworth turbo.
I asked him where the fudge that was gonna go, and he said behind the seats lol.
So timed up the car which was a mission with the heads being 4mm higher, and its been in his garage since.
So yesterday he popped up in it as he`d done the basic mapping to 4000rpm.
And a quick Video.
Its got to go to Gotboost in Brackla Bridgend to get fully mapped, and as far as I know two Ford Mags are going to go along to do a photoshoot.
Gonna see if I can get my Scoob in the background of some of the shots.
Well what you think? As I thinks its great, and every one who sees it thinks WTF!! No way lol.

Ignition on and starter buttons iirc lol.
Yeah will do, the gearbox is a Vectra F23 5speed, which I`ve seen cope with 300bhp+, and it handles like a dream actually, thought the front would wash out but it only does it a tiny amount.
The Standard X30XE is 207bhp, and when in a Vectra with cams and an air filter do 230bhp, so he`s hoping for 350ish.

Due to the Vectra having a drive shaft idler, the car has equal length shafts so doesn`t pull under acceleration too badly if at all tbh.
But will be fun when done!!

So where does the air intake actually go? Does the cold air feed pass by the passenger seat or something??
Highly amusing. Have to look out for a fast KA next time I'm in Swansea

The boost pipe runs from the turbo to the engine, then exhaust runs under the car, up to the turbo and out the boot.
The turbo is nice and cool, and still runs a water and oil coolant setup.
It looks a botch job but its all done correctly.

The turbo has it's own water and oil supply so if the turbo goes pear shaped it won't take the engine out

Even when I give it death the turbo only see's 350°C but there's air flow taking the heat out, on idle the turbo doesn't even get to the minimum of 200°C that my EGT gauge starts at so it's not that bad but it's only been back on the road two weeks so I'll be doing the odds and sods like cover stuff in the weeks to come

I always respect a bit of very special engineering like that.
It reminds me of the days when some bloke had an Issigonis Mini with an engine in the boot as well as in the front, and another bloke who used to race one with a big V8 in the boot!

The engine is mounted now but we've not touched it for a year, now my v6 is done (well sort of) we'll be cracking on soon
