DIY advice, hanging pictures
This may seem a fairly stupid question but I haven't ever hung up a picture.
Can you use nails to hang things on a plasterboard wall or will I need to use rawplugs and screws?

If it's a light to medium picture any hardware shop will sell you some plugs designed to screw into plaster board which take a small screw to hang picture.
If it's a heavy picture you will need to screw through the plaster board and into the batons that the plaster board itself hangs from.
I usually use a pair of screws close to each other to hang mirrors/pictures as this spreads the weight and keeps the picture straight.
The DIY section is read by professionals and not amateurs like me. But I expect this will be moved soon anyway.

Cheers guys! They are fairly light canvas pictures the missus has bought, you know the sort 3 chavvy pictures you hang in a row. I wasn't sure if they warranted using something as substancial at a rawplug and screw but I'd never used nails/tacks on plasterboard. Off to B&Q I go!

The picture that Foxarm has suppiled are a good fixing for lightwieght items. we call them Pig Tails in the Trade!
I use for heavier items a compresion bolt. Hollow wall anchores.
Made by Bole/ Fischer. Screwfix , under cavity fixings.
You drill the right sized hole 9m/m is the norm. Push the bolt into the hole and use a compresion tool to collapse the sleeve, at the back of the plaster board.
You can then take the bolt out at any time as the sleeve stays in place .
Used these in my job many times . Well worth the money if you have a dry linned home.
Good luck, and please do not just use nails , they will not last as the previous post has suggested.

It is good to liven up the house with some pleasant images, fair play.
I think you will be fine with genlty tapping small, thin nails into the walls to hang that sort, but if you rent the house, you may be better off asking your landlord first before nailing or drilling any holes into the walls. Some landlords are very awkward about it, and they may keep your rent deposit just because you made holes in their walls and ruined them.
If you own the house, make as many holes as you like without any fear. Good luck.
