I was there in the late 70s/early 80s, used to get there on the monday, before the summer soltlace, "come in free if you help" the bar was next to the pyrymid stage, there was market, which was like babylon, you could get anything! Loads of old school hippies, every body was having fun, no coppers, just madness, peace and love!! and damn good music!! best growing up years, so far!!,

Looks like I picked a good year to go weather wise last year, it was scorchio for all 5 days.
Always a great variation of music, I remember last year Ray Davies of the Kinks was on straight after Slash on the Sunday, it was much better than watching England get knocked out of the world cup.

One has to get into the state of mind where one doesn't give monkeys to the rain and mud, its all an adventure. One just enjoys the atmosphere, dance like frikking maniac on top tunes, meet dead laid back people, and have great fun! Some get into that sort of state of mind with the help of alcohol, drugs, topped up with music. For some, music itself may act like a drug along with the atmosphere. Passive toking can't be avoided in scenes like that, mind.
I am pleased that I didn't go. Right now, I am finding myself very lucky with a hot cup of tea in my warm house.

I'm there now, having just slept off the previous night.
it is biblically muddy. everything is a major effort to get to and I am roasting to death in my tent now the sun is up. I haven't washed for 4 days, have the splats and am a mass of rubbing sores.
Having said that, its worth mentioning that I'm having a great time here. So far I've seen Carl ***, the chemical brothers, mark Thomas (a very funny man) Craig Charles Di a dj set and an absolutely amazing stage show which i never did find out the name of. Cross Tron with mad max and you'll be close. It was visually stunning though and set to the prodigy
I missed U2 which I regret. Not so much for the music or Bonio's endless pontfication, but for the pitched battle between security and the first 5 rows to prevent them inflating a huge protest sign saying 'pay your taxes you chunts!'
So yeah, all in, having a really good time
