Default Anyone got experience with CEX (UK) Phones

My wife sent off a bunch of old mobiles to this mob and has heard nothing for 2 weeks.

They have ignored all emails and having found a phone number there is simply an automated message advising people to email them. It's starting to look grim (i.e. scam), what action should my wife take next?

They send out some sort of freepost envelope and they claim to be in touch within 48h. She says she got some sort of tracking receipt.

I used them a couple of years ago, sent two lots of phones. 1st 4 phones they returned one as it was faulty (it was, I was pushing my luck ). They sent a voucher for £50 for the other 3 phones. Then two days later, another voucher, different code though, for £50 arrived
2nd batch of 3 phones (another faulty one ) and this time they missed the faulty camera, despite it being checked by 3 different people and they payed top whack for the faulty phone. Another voucher duly arrived.

Traded the vouchers against a new Nokia X6, which went faulty after a few months - but they replaced it no problem.

That's my experience, they seem to employ a bunch on numpties, it might work in your favour but there again maybe not. Can't see me using them again.

Hopefully it is just muppets (i.e. slow service) as opposed to anything else (i.e. theft/scam).

I've had CEX, but it was some time ago. Took a couple of weeks for them to COME through, but they gave me a 25 quid voucher for an ageing Blackberry. Service and contact was horrendous, and the voucher is really worth next to nothing as you are tied to them to spend it, but it isn't a scam. (At least it wasn't then.... I just got the impression that it was two lads with a website and no idea how popular it might be.)

I've always wondered. WTF do these places actually do with the old phone they have bought off you for £15? How do they turn a profit?

I use cex all the time to trade in games etc, and they are first off all a legitimate company and have high street stores throughout the country.

They are however, notoriously slow.

What do do is log into your open sell orders on their site and see if the status of your order has changed to processing or something similar.

Payment can often take two weeks and they are crap at emailing

In the case of your phone they test them first and then they mark them up heavily to sell in their shops.
