Further revelations showed that the NoW has passed to police e-mails which allegedly show payments by it to the police were approved by the then editor Andy Coulson.
NoW paid the police? what for? to look the other way? Have i got this wrong?

Given the high profile of this now I am sure that quite a few ex-police officers and journos are going to spending some time at her majesty's pleasure though. Serves them right.
It's too big to be covered up now.

Doesn't show anyone connected with them in a good light I reckon.
Bad luck for the innocent employees to lose their jobs. Should have kicked out all the execs who knew what was happening and kept the paper going. Very long tradition with that paper over many years.
All done for the sake of getting full control of BSkyB. Very dishonest!

Sweeteners and backhanders have been around for ages as most of you know. Is it so surprising that the long arm of the law was on the take too?
As an aside I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering how the MOD can have a discrepancy of several billions! Where did they lose it, down the back of the Chesterfield?!

Corruption is officially sanctioned -- as shown by Blair's refusal to investigate illegal payments by BAE to the Saudi government over arms deals
it just the way it is -- the crime is getting caught

So how much were these payments? Are we talking big bucks e.g. a few grand or just the odd 50 quid? I haven't seen any amounts mentioned.
May be it will be in the NotW which I have ordered for Sunday![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

That is how it always seemed to be, except for the odd bad penny that used to turn up.
We know now about the general character of the average politician, and they are still whining about their expenses!
God help us all if the coppers go that way.
