Question What's the easiest and best paid job?

What with all this talk about Teachers and their challenging 26 hours a week/20 weeks holiday and 2 payrises per year.

With talk about those (like me) asked to do more for less and standing still financially.

Bankers get huge amounts of money for doing next to nothing.

Estate Agents refuse to look out of the window in the morning because they will have nothing to do in the afternoon.

Car Salesmen are smooth liars and do nothing except on Saturdays.

Firemen sit around all day playing with their Playstation, responding to the odd call from Aunty Wainwright who's cat is stuck up the apple tree ...... and Ethel needs them to fix up a smoke detector.

Doctors are on a good crack at the moment .... loads of money and reduced hours!

Dentists just rip off their poor clients ..... most only have to work 2 days a week for an adequate £100k a year.

Me, a top notch Engineer ... working his socks off, for poxy pay .......

Footballers, kicking a round ball around and getting silly money ..... I think these win the prize for the award of the most overpaid, least worked, people on earth.

What do you reckon?

I'd say Teacher for someone of mediocre ability.

You can slag off people like Bankers all you want, but they get there by their own virtue at least, even if the virtue of the 'profession' is questionable.

Dentists is a little different, they kind of hide behind their qualifications so it's a de facto closed shop. I'm sure many are useless but because they have a bit of paper they can trade, same as Doctors and there are some USELESS GP's.

Define easy. Some naturally gifted people get paid a lot for not much more than advice. Hard/impossible for some people... for the people with a flair for it it's a piece of **** and they enjoy it.

To be honest any job is easy if you enjoy it. A rare thing though I suppose.

I haven't attacked Teachers ..... I merely point out that they may have a fantastic job - highly paid yet low directed hours.

That's all ...

I would probably go with footballers. There is a relatively short paying life, so they have to make sure they can move into management or capitalise on the money while they can.

Bog standard lawyers must have a pretty easy ride - just do the same few things over and over and charge plenty for it. Lived with some law students at uni and they had a very easy time given the kudos the course seems to hold.

The most obviously overpaid 'ordinary' job has to be sales. You don't need any real ability of your own, you just have to regurgitate other people's ideas convincingly enough for the mark to get out his cheque-book.

One day overworked and poorly done to.

The next bragging about a 6% wage rise.

And as for directed time, very few do the minimum, try a week on a residential trip then complain.

dunx

P.S. 0% again this year and it took so long to get my OT it had lost 1% of it's value.

A Residential trip?

You mean were the Teachers are paid a wage, to go to Spain on a Watersports week, Jet-Skiing etc. all paid for by the Parents?

God, it's damned tough isn't it??

Add to that the fact that only the 'good' kids are allowed to go and it's a Freebie for the Teachers!! So don't come that old claptrap!

Mine, IT, Database Administrator, pretty good money but then I have spent years learning and have quite a lot of experience, wouldn't say its easy but a lot of people have harder jobs for a lot less money,

I dont think teachers are that overpayed or not worthy because they get a lot of holidays, someone has to teach kids, I wouldnt want to do it.

Some GP's are crap, like any job but all of them had to do a minimum of five years training and a few years as an overworked junior.

Car salesmen, hmm, try it at the moment !

Dont know what you want Pete, be glad you are financially secure and employed, I am ok, might not feel it sometimes as dont have anything left at the end of the month and cant do everything I want to do but the house is paid for, I dont owe anyone anything and I am in regular and pretty well payed employment, kids and wife are ok, all well fed and clothed, dont need much more really, a little "garnish" in terms of better cars would be nice but seeing how a lot of people live I dont feel unsatisfied.

When you say vehicle tech is that kind of a more skilled mechanic ?

Doing some car work myself does make you realise how skilled a good all round mechanic is, the term mechanic doesnt do it justice, ok, a tyre fitter doesnt generally have massive skills but a proper mechanic is a really skilled job, I think people assume it is just dirty and involves hitting stuff with a hammer but its about applying force correctly and keeping things clean, funny how it gets looked down on a bit but few people actually try it, or do, fail and send it to an expert.

Not going to get drawn into this baiting exercise as it's the same people complaining every time.
Sounds like a serious case of sour grapes to me.

Why? Well, I'm a highly proactive person, so when I wanted a better life for myself, that gave me more income for less effort (and surely that is just being efficient with your life!) I got qualified & changed jobs

If you resent the way other people make a living, you've simply compared your own life to this alternative and found yourself wanting.

So go and do something about it rather than b1tching on the internet: the only people getting really wound up are yourselves. I, along with the rest who have this perceived better lifestyle won't give it a second thought whilst on 6-week holidays or uber-pay rises etc etc.

As the original poster has eluded to before, you don't get owt for nowt.
And for the flamers, I refer you back to the previous paragraph

Actually sales management is even easier, especially in a growth market. You get the commission and only work a few days a month!!!!
