Default Driving to Wales,Criccieth..mountain route??

Going for short break to Criccieth. Not been since was a child.Driving from midlands so to Shrewsbury etc then to wales

I know most of you love the odd cliff/mountain but I physically can't drive that sort of route terrifies me

Is it a mountainous route or not that bad?If it is.is there an alternative flat(ish) route?

Many thanks...sorry,just my worst fear might have to go to Devon again!

Well if you want a flat road go North on the A5/A483 from Shrewsbury, then onto the *** to Caernarvon. From here Down the A487 to Criccieth. Flat but very boring.

I would go West on the A458, up the A470 then West into Cricc via Porthmadog. Some lovely roads and not too mountainous with nice scenery. The good roads really start North on the A470 where you would turn West to cricc.

Nice place Criccieth , stayed there many times whilst working up there.

I went up to Abersoch the other weekend and although it's pretty easy to get there (from Nottingham) I (we) ended up getting lost but found some brilliant roads on the way!

Doubt I'd be able to find them again!

Yeah I love Abersoch and I've been to Criccieth years ago too and it's nice.

Good suggestion there, Chip. With boring *** option, Loz & Co. may suddenly feel exhilarated at the sight of the sea giving a big kiss to the dual carriageway alongside Colwyn Bay, but that's about it. He should go West, as you say. (no other meaning but the literal one intended. )

If you tackle windy ( is it spelt like this?) steep roads - ensure you have plenty of brake pad left!

I think both windy and windy apply to this area of Wales.

Have stayed in Criccieth I think (isn't it just outside Pwllheli?)

I went on the main road (***?), so not so exciting. Pwllheli was a great night out, so I can't remember anything else as I was too drunk!

Happy days!
