Is Rupert Murdoch's empire falling apart?
O.K. the News of the World has gone.
It appears The Sun and Sunday Times is now also in the spotlight by hacking Gordon Brown's bank details and son's medical records.
What other newspapers and companies are also involved outwith N.I.?
Why an 80 year old would want to go through this at his time of life is beyond me especially as he has sons and daughters to pass his business on to. Perhaps he wanted to protect them from the scandal he saw coming.

they way our politicians have fawned in front these crooks for the last 30years must make us look like laughing stocks to other countries
and then when you factor in the obvious collusion of the police – even Mr Mugabe must be laughing

What I didn't understand was when Murdoch was asked what his priorities were in coming to the UK he said 'Rebekah Brookes'.
She must be the most awesome CEO of all time to get this level of support - that poor sod at BP got fired for taking the day off for his son's birthday!

As for his empire going down the pan, well he needs the BSkyB deal, from all accounts, to shore it up. Lots of revenue at the moment from his empire but diddly squat in terms of profit. Now it's been referred to the competition commission, by Rupe himself don't forget (!!!), then that gives 6 months or so for all the fuss to die down so he doesn't get much flak when it then goes through.
Oh, and apparently her 40th was organised by Sara Brown ...... just thought I'd throw that in ...

She does have a reputation for being able to manipulate men and get what she wants from them.
It is men after all who have promoted her time and again.
She probably one of these very 'wormy' individuals who can make themselves (apparently) indispensable in the 'court' environment of News International. Murdoch being King of the court.

Looking at the bigger picture, this makes sober reading.

The man prob has more sway on popular opinion than any politician could even dream of!!!
Falling apart? No such luck! I fear this is just a bump in the road.

For example, he just sold Myspace for about $20M. He paid over $500M a few years back! Then there's the 'paywall' experiment with the Times etc .... http://www.thinq.co.uk/2010/11/2/tim...after-paywall/ ...
So with the two titles combined, News International is looking at a total subscriber base of around 26,000 readers a month.
There’s no disguising that’s a massive drop: before the paywall, the two titles were racking up around 20 million unique users a month – more than 13 times larger than the papers’ combined print circulation of 1.5 million.

Sun newspaper editor Rebekah Wade has been released without charge following her arrest for allegedly assaulting her EastEnders actor husband Ross Kemp.
And they divorced a while back and she's remarried.

What I've never got is what Murdoch actually wants in politics. Obviously a capitalist who wants to be powerful and make loads of cash but is that all? What is his real vision? Anyone help on this?

As much power as possible and the cash to go with it I imagine.
This country can do without people like that.
With all the revelations coming out from under a stone, his empire is not fit to have a licence anyway.

Exactly he ruined the Times by telling them what to write. That is one of the issues with his take over of BskyB, he promised originally not to have any editorial influence ont he Times and he lied, now he is claiming the same with Sky news etc and it seems clear to most that he is lying again.
