Question Advice/suggestions on a Stag Do that sadly going "south".....

Need some thoughts on the matter.

As Best Man for my mate's wedding, I've been sorting out a Stag Do. However, because he's deaf (and the resulting lack of confidence), 99% of usual activities were scrubbed.

This isn't the main issue.

Due to the tough financial times, I've ended up organising several optional events:
some Karting - a grand-prix session which should take up most of the mid-morning to lunch time.
Bite to eat
Then drinking/evening bite to eat
Crash out in hotel!

Quite a sedate affair (at his request and agreement).

I've tried to keep it relatively local to where everybody lives and the hotel was about £20 each.

This is when it starts to go belly-up: of the 15 people he asked me to invite, we're now looking at about 6 people karting, and an undisclosed amount coming to the afternoon/evening affair.

I pretty p1ssed off about it really as it's showing a total lack of commitment from his so-called "friends" and "work-mates". Especially as I've given them months of notice. Some of them haven't responded to a single text or voicemail in over 2 months.
Whilst logistically a nightmare to organise, I feel for my mate - he's got some "unique" friends and family

So, with a couple of days before the event, I'm now thinking "**** em". The core 6 or so will be karting, then getting ready for a night out.

However, I've got a bit of a lull in the afternoon. This was going to be filled in with some group drinking down the pub, but with 6-odd, it's not as appealing.

Any suggestions? I'm not after something that's going to cost too much.

I've ruled out:-
Driving range (cheap, but the groom hates golf)
Bowling (a semi-option, but 1. adds to the cost and 2. arms might be fooked after karting)
Lap-dancing/strip clubs: not his scene really.
Night-clubs, seeing bands - pointless as he can't hear them.

FWIW, we're going out in Worcester.
Any advice would be brilliant.

THanks in advance,

Dan

Strip club isn't cheap anyways, why nOt go to hooters (if you have one) for the afternoon meal and drinks.

Thanks guys

Paint-balling is a "no-no" due to his deafness.

Thinking maybe a pub for an hour or two: there's one next to the Aston Martin dealer in Stourbridge..... gonna give em a shout and ask if they'd be prepared to offer a passenger ride in a DB9........ the worst they can say is "no".....

his "friends" sound like tw@ts. its not often someone gets married (def wouldnt recommend it to begin with anyway) but it sounds like the fella is nice and deserves a good day out for his stag.

What about hover-racing!!!!!

http://www.hoverdays.co.uk/

£40pp and its something different! Hope everything goes well for the bloke anyway. At least he's got one "real" friend bud!

Deaf disco in the evening. They're getting quite popular, they max out the bass so they cam feel the music rather than hear it.
A nice novel option which will appeal to all.

Thanks for that. Called Aston, they politely declined (which is ironic, as both my mate and I can afford a used DB9), but if they aren't interested, they aren't interested.

Sounds desperate, but I'm just trying to compensate for the lack of support from his friends and family.

Either way, it will still be good, I just want it to be memorable (and for the right reason!)

Snooker or pool hall? Doesn't need ears, kind of sedate but you can introduce gambling if you want. Chance of more beer :-)

This is completely off the top of my head but..... what about some kind of boating? Some trips on a power boat or even some dingy sailing as that could appeal to a deaf person? Sorry if this sounds silly.

Hang on in there anyway as your friend WILL appreciate it. David

Note - do this before the boozing kicks off

Thanks guys, snooker & pool is unfair (he's cr@p!! - I'd make too much money!! LOL!!)

Will have a look around the area for water stuff (although I'm not sure how it could affect his hearing aid - rather scary-expensive bit of kit!)

Regardless, WE'RE going to have a good time.

Thanks for all the suggestions - disco/club will be happening that night too.

6 people on a Stag do is a good number IMO. If you have too many people you find that you get little groups of people and as you get more pissed you lose people.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info

Looked into getting a passenger ride in an Audi (R8 or TT-rs) - "due to insurance reasons, we can't help" is the standard response

If I said I wanted a test-drive, I'm sure the response would be different

Any Worcester crew with something interesting on the drive available to give a passenger ride?

No Scoobs though (sorry) - he's been in mine LOADs of times

Witley Court is absolutely worth a visit, but might be torture for some of your group if they're not into that sort of thing.

Or how about a football match? Worcester City FC exist i think?

I used to really like that area when I lived in Pershore.

That's true.

Six good close friends is better than twelve, when only six of them are worth inviting.

What you are describing is **** poor for a stag do.

It is obligatory that you end up in some sort of Gentleman's Club at the end of the night where the groom can have some clunge thrust in his face

Go-karting to take up the slack during day is fine, but after that is should all be about excessive drinking

Worcester doesn't have any lap dancing clubs, the night clubs are cr*p as are most of the pubs, I know as I live there.

Go to Bristol or Birmingham.

you haven't looked very far then CD

There is a GREAT club behind the bus depot - "Images". Lots of dirty "clunge" there.

It will be excessive drinking now, as I've managed to sort out what we're doing in the slack time (+ the karting is extended until 4pm!).

The downside with Birmingham is that if you're face don't fit (or you're not one of the Beautiful People) you ain't getting in.

Worcester's as good as anywhere for drinking imho. Plus we're being governed by the Groom. End of. Due to his "issue" he has stipulated where he's going so he can enjoy himself.
He's had enough **** to deal with over the last few years so I'm going to support his decision. Defensive? Fearlessly.
FWIW, some of the original stag party couldn't even be ar$ed to go 10 minutes down the road. So **** em.

Besides, I can always go to the "clubs" later on
