Did anyone see this on the News. It was really sickening.
What sorts of person is Sadist like this to animals?
It's bad enough they are being slaughtered - we live in a meat eating society and need food though - but why do this crap to them in the final minutes?
Sick chav Scum!
Sky also showed older footage of some bloke hitting chickens with a bat. Sick.

This is the price we pay for having someone else do our dirty work. What kind of person can go to work, day after day, and slaughter living things in a mechanised, impersonal production line as their daily job? At the very best they will become desensitised to the suffering and at worst they will invent diversions to help make their boredom less hellish. It takes a pretty dumb, callous and unemotional person to take on a job like that in the first place, so how can we stand and judge those people that do the jobs we won't do?
Get off your ******* high horse and do something about the meat trade rather than berate the poor ******* that have to chop our meat up on a daily basis.

It's a funny subject. Watching that does play with my emotions, but at the end of the day they are literally minutes from being slaughtered....
It's never nice or morally right to be cruel like that but then as somebody previously posted...we do all (mostly) eat them. Some of us have possibly even eaten one that was beaten/tortured.
If i'm honest i never really make the link of what a living animal went through to become that meat in a packet. This may sound strange but i bet a lot of people are like me on this. I couldn't personally kill a living thing, but i love eating meat.
But i suppose these people guilty of the torturing of animals have become numb to the fact of what they are doing every day, so the pigs aren't significant enough to have feelings for.

I am ok with killing Pigs, if I had to I would do but I see no sense in torturing an animal for fun, I wouldnt like myself very much if that is how I passed the time, I can see Bubba's point about high horses and not wanting to do that job but that is the job they applied for, I don't think the job description said abuse the Pigs before you kill them, I think we do get a bit too sentimental about animals but nothing deserves that treatment. Basically if you cant get your head around that going on, stop eating Meat.
I think whoever it was should loose their jobs over that and possibly be prosecuted, cant imagine the Meat industry would like that kind of publicity, its probably caused another couple of thousand veggies and nobody really wants that.

not watching vid, sounds like it would really upset me
yes ill eat meat all day long,
but surley there are laws on how animals are killed in as humane a way as possible.
yes, takes a "special" kind of person to do the job, but it could be done by people with some empathy also - ensuring animals are as stess free as possible until killed instantly - id hope anyway.
plus animals that are sterssed release huge amounts of cortisol and other stress hormones, which actually makes the meat not taste as nice.
so in my eyes no reason for abuse
lol my points maybe invalid as i havent even watched the vid - just going from comments above

That video looked pretty mild from my perspective.
There are some horrendous animal abuse videos on You Tube and the net, particularly in slaughterhouses in the Middle East.
Also the animal abuses in China are enough to make a grown man cry - skinning dogs alive as apparently it makes the skin easier to get off. Then have dogs running around skinned until they die. Now that is abusive.

Also what they do in the ME and China re: animals, is beyond the UK laws jurisdiction.

my problem is not with the abattoir industry, nor with eating meat, i'll never be a veggie, my anger was directed at the ineffectiveness of DEFRA for not pursuing animal cruelty caught on camera, in the uk, and their lame excuses.
why did ya have to try be a smart **** about it ***?

Bubba - I don't agree with the profession thing. The fact it's not a glamorous job and it might get a bit boring is no excuse. But I agree this is to be expected: in life there is always that minority who find things acceptable when others are dead against it. Difficult for most normal people to even understand what the point of doing that stuff in the video is?
