Seriously stupid business people.
Off I go to get my haircut. Rather than travel into the nearest town and use my regular barber, I visit a barbers that is beside my home. I go in and the place is empty, I get chatting to the girl and she tells me business is slack blah blah blah(odd my barbers is always jam packed). So afterwards I said,"well sure now you've got one more regular customer anyway!" and paid.................
£8 for a ****ing haircut!
That is why you don't have any customers ffs! Even with the cost of travel to the local town it still wouldn't cost £8 for a haircut.

Very odd posting. £8 is more than reasonable - I think it's what my local hairdressers charge for my 10 minute clipper cut. I usually give £10 with a cheery "keep the change" so as they put prices up they're only going to eat into the tip!

£10??? now thats is a joke of a price! I would expect that from maybe a hairdressers in Belfast centre but not in a small town.
I am now on the hunt for some clippers as it seems I could be quids in within 2/3 haircuts.

Its not that odd. If I owned a struggling business I would check out of my competition and see why they are busy and I am not, being upto 25% more expensive than other barbers would make me rethink my pricing structure.

I still don't get it. Given the two options below, which would most people chose:
1. Pay £4 (going cheap now) for a haircut "in town", but have to pay £2 for a return bus fare that takes 20 mins each way - then a 5 minute walk to the barbers. THEN (as it's "always jam packed") have to wait another 15 minutes before I actually get to sit down. With a 10 minute haircut (even assuming that the bus-stop is outside your house) this is 1hr 10 mins total.
2. Pay £8 for a haircut at a barbers next door to where you live - which doesnt have much trade and you can be in and out in 10 mins total.
Saving 1hr for £2 - seems like a no-brainer to me.

Forgive me as I only have GCSE's but £8 for 1 haircut within 1 hour is less turnover than doing 3 haircuts at £6 each within an hour. All because someone hasn't done their homework on local pricing.

and the one near work I go to is on the edge of potential "riot land". Hoodies, multiple tatoos and staffies. Hairdressers that are now too old for the game. Really is one those places where you sit and think "thank f*** I dont live around here".

If you want a cheap short back and sides - go to a barber who will likely charge you £5.
If you go to a unisex salon you will end up paying a bit more. My wife has her own salon and a gents cut is a tenner. If it's a quick trim ala Barbers then she'll charge a bit less.
£8 IMO is a good price for a salon haircut.

you better not stop off for a trim in primrose hill then, works out £25 plus tip! that is in a uni. Though does include the wash and head massage ( as in scalp before anyone gets dirty).
