Gettin the pills from boots etc is a costly way of doing it, say 5 quid for a weeks supply.

Go to your GP, he may give you a prescription for them, a month at a time!

Munna, I use one of the herbal ones from over the counter. It's called Luffa Complex, and can be purchased in most health care shops. You simply take two tables three times a day, and that's about it. I also use eye drops and nasal spray in conjunction, but since using the Luffa Complex for 3 or so years, and it has got to be said that my symptoms have near enough gone.

Edited to add that it's £6 or so for a months supply. There is no need to go for Triludan, Clarityn, etc.. which are all the same stuff, just renamed!

Hope this helps!

Cool

I've used Zirtek on prescription for the last few years together with Opticrom eyedrops. I suffer very badly during the grass pollen season and they seem to work very well.

Tried all sorts of herbal remedies over the last 25 years but haven't found a decent one - not tried Luffa Complex, might be worth a go.

Zirtek (citrozene?) is what I have next to me. works great. Think I got it on prescroption though. I did use something last year that was over the counter, think it was one these ones that was advertiesed on tv, but it was fecking expensive, think 7 quid for a week's worth, hence going to the doctors to get zirtek.

You could also try NewEra, which is a homoeopathic type thingy, available over the counter. have used this and it's pretty good, tast nice as well

I tried Beconase for the first time this week and wish I'd used it sooner-it's a nasal spray and after 2 days of using it(once in the morning and once at night)I am not suffering any symptoms.
I used to use Clarityn but that made me drowsy so I used to put it in a drink bottle and drink it a bit at a time through the day which eased the symptoms and made me less drowsy.

Triludan, thats nasty stuff that should be avoided at all costs. I thought they took it off the market?
My auntie gave me a couple of tablets a few years back, it fcuked me up for a 4 days. Light headed, blurry vision, ringing in my ears, my throat swelled up making drinking and eating a right pain in the @rse. Use a beconase, clarityn mix now. Will try that luffa complex. Have you tried piriton tablets?
DOes a scoob have a pollen filter in the air vent system? mine is a my00. If it does I will get it changed before summer.

Infinity:-

As I understand (95% sure) the 'classic' shape scooby does NOT have a pollen filter but the new 01MY onwards does.

This is something I looked into a year or so ago.

Munna you'll have to let us know how you get on, as some friends have recently started to take it and they said it's working for them already.

Beconase works for me, it clears up my symptoms almost 100%. You need to use it for a few days before it becomes effective so don't give up after only trying it for a day.

For some reason I was given Flixonase instead of Beconase!!

Pretty good stuff, but did give me a couple of nose bleeds........normally I can stick to the zirtek and the eye drops.

For those of you using Zirtek (cetirizine) it may be of interest that there is a new second generation form called Xyzal (levocetirizine), should be even more effective. And Claityn (loratidine) is no longer available on prescription only over the counter, the new alternative is Neoclarityn (desloratidine).

If flixonase and beconase do not work for you ask your GP for rhinocort aqua nasal spray. I've found that to be more effective. As a point of personal interest if there was a tablet for the nasal symptoms of hay fever instead of a spray do you think that people would prefer to use it.

Yep I was told this year I couldn't have Clarytin any more on prescription.

Doctor has given me Fexofenadine HCI 120mg tablets. So far so good.

This is probably the earliest I can remember having to take tablets. Must be the lovely dry and sunny spell.

I have suffered hayfever, badly, for many years.

Last year someone recommended Benodryl Plus. I tried it and :-o had the best non-hayfever year of my life! That is saying something - when I was 16 I got special consideration for exams as I suffered so bad.

This year I have slightly itchy eyes but otherwise it hasnt kicked off yet. Not normal for me.

Try it. Sure we all respond differently to these things but I was amazed and sooooo happy as I love the outdoors.

Suffered a v. bad grass pollen allergy for decades - last year an allergy specialist from the London Allergy Clinic recommended flixonase. In particular he said to be sure to be using it 2 weeks BEFORE you normally get affected each year. Last year was 100% sneeze free and my quite amazing!
