Yup remeber them days well....

 

I remember it well.

It's 5.30, you think you can just get away with a feed, and then you smell THAT smell!

 

weird -- I never found nappies like that, wife found plenty though

 

Our first was born 27th May 1986, he didn't go through the night ONCE until June 1989, by which time wife was MASIVELY pregnant waith the next one.

It was also a VERY hot, humid summer, she couldn't sleep with the heat, and was up at least twice for a wee, then the youngest was born 26th August 1989, HE didn't sleep though until end of July 1992.

SIX years with disturbed nights, we just forgot what it was like to sleep though........

 

Our son is now 3 years old and slept through from 6 weeks old without a word of a lie, he is so chilled out, and i can honestly say he is no bother at all, i was petrified when she uttered the "im pregnant"words, but its been a breeze so far, second one is on its way due 17th january 2012 and really hope we are as lucky with that one as we have been with our first.

 

Our second is just starting to sleep now .. 6-7 months old .. still waking a few times, but settling with a dummy ..

Its hard work .. but she said Dadda yesterday

 

My first slept around the clock, the second is four and still doesn't go more than a few hours without calling for me!

 

Sleeps not a problem , my wife may say different.

Ellie took her 1st steps today , i was very proud

 

My twins will be 14 months old next week - they are fantastic, all the credit for that has to go to my wife. After 4 weeks at home she had everything ticking along like clockwork, feeds every 4 hours just as the kids were crying for them. By about 6 months old they would sleep from 1900 to 0800 and that has continued ever since. They are polar opposites of each other. I wish I could take a few years away from work, so I could spend more time with both the kids and my wife. I had a month off in July and it was fantastic.

My friend's wife gave birth to twins yesterday after IVF at 32 weeks, a few hours later both twins passed away, I will be attending their funeral on Friday. I looked at the photo of my kids on my desk today as I received that bad news, and realised not for the first time, just how fortunate Mrs T and I were to have our twins, although born a few weeks premature, both were in perfect health and no need for specialist care in the neonatal unit.

They wind me up, they annoy me, our perfectly appointed home now looks lived in, there are hand prints on the walls, there is no time to do the things I like to do, and they cost me a fortune, but I wish I had ten more just like them!!!!!

 

Had me smiling at first, but your friends' story is horrendous! I am struggling to think of anything worse that could happen! What a nightmare!

Happy for you though.

 

Broken sleep for about 18m until we did controlled crying. Being a parent turned me into a softie and yet has been the best thing in my life.

 

Well we're 3 months in and I'm just so tired. But it's more worrying that I'm getting used to it. With all this Health and Safety crap I can't work out how I'm being allowed to drive at the moment

I know what you mean, the two I have are very expensive toys. I dont get to go and watch the rugby, car shows, rallys, fishing etc etc...... and going out is just so much trouble the next day after stuggleing to stay away come 11pm on your night out. Then if you get any time your too tired to want to do anything....

my oldest now 3 1/4 is argumentative, it like arguing with myself.

but wouldnt part with them for the world......

 

I think with everythig they do that's bad, no matter how long you go without sleep, they always make up for it with a big beaming smile!

 

I also bricked myself when the mrs gave me the news. We had been trying for 12 months so it was expected. But until you hear those words 'I'm pregnant', you have no idea of what fear actually feels like!

Our son is so worth the worry though. He hardly cries, only when he is getting hungry or a little tired. Charlie boy is 3 months old today and sleeps from 7pm to 11pm when I usually have to wake him for a feed. Then he goes back to sleep usually till around 7am. Seriosuly thinking of dropping the 11pm feed and seeing if he will sleep through.

I have 2 boys (15 and 12). When my first son was born he had a Hernia (like I did when I was born), 3 months later he had an op and after the op he slept through the night in his own room. Was sheer bliss for the ex-wife for me it was nothing different As for the second son, I really can't remember much at all

Having children is such a life changer, I don't think you can actually prepare yourself as to what its going to be like. If your lucky and you have plenty of money or have a brilliant job with the salary to match, then your social life might not change that much (apart from having to find baby sitters etc) but if your the normal Joe public, then damn its a knightmare lol

But I wouldn't be withot them for anything in the world

 

Yep, it's sure not what you expect it to be. The first week or so you're thinking oh **** what have we done but then things start to calm down

Our boy is nearly four months old now, slept through the night a couple of times while we were in Ireland on holiday a few weeks back (in a not so comfy travel cot ) so we decided to stick him in his own room on our return. First night or so he was still waking but now he goes down between 8 - 9pm and doesn't wake until 7am. Fantastic

Going to start the guzzler on a few solids this weekend too so that should help

Really has developed a character now and is very funny at times.

My missus is due our first in 5 days .. after seeing the ****ty nappy picture I can hardly wait now!! lol

 

Smiles and giggles all round here too. He loves his neck and feet being tickled.
He has been in his own room from 3 weeks old. I'm am sure some people will that makes us very bad parents.

 

So they are noisey, smelly, expensive, hard work, ruin your social life, ruin your house, make a mess, prevent you doing anything you want to do and don't sleep at night!!! to list just a few points you lot have made.

So why exactly do you want the little monsters in the first place? and having learnt your lesson WTF do you do it all again and have more ??

You women moan like b1tches when you are pregnant, oh it is to hot, oh it is to cold, my clothes don't fit, I am so uncomfortable, I am so fat and unatractive, the baby is kicking, I need a pee, blah blah blah

So again WHY DO YOU DO IT time and time again?

 

our eldest is 5 and a half, she has slept in her own bed maybe 40 times, ever. and until she was 2 and a half she never slept a full night, the youngest now 6 weeks sleeps through already, its a big relief

 

We only have one and she is 9.

Wifes sister has two - 8 weeks and 2 years. The baby was fine but the nipper was a bit of a PITA. Lovely fella but I felt theres no way I could cope with kids (yet I have one)

I found myself thinking on more than one occasion - how the f*ck did I go through that and come out sane the other side. I guess it's just a case of when it's your own you don't think about it too much - just get on with it.

At one point I thought my daughter had left a doll on the sofa and went to lob it into the toy room. Only just stopped myself when I realised it was actually the baby
