Default Gilberts disease

Had a blood test recently which highlighted a raised level of billyreuben..

A second test showed levels still raised, but no other underlying symptoms...

Saw the quack again today, who is 99.9% certain i have Gilberts disease / syndrome

A final (hopefully) blood test next week will confirm the diagnosis

Looking at the web, turns out its a quite common non life threatening liver disorder, males primarily effected lol.

anyone else heard / been diagnosed with this.

The only side effect i can see thats negative is i run the risk of becoming jaundiced every now and again

i have to laugh at the avoids....

  • dieting or fasting
  • dehydration
  • emotional stress or anxiety
  • infectious illnesses
  • heavy physical exertion that can leave you feeling drained
  • lack of sleep.

Didn't think it had any health impact........we learn about it because it's an interesting liver enzyme LOL

I have to agree lol, looking at some of the website's it ranges from a mild side effect to life changing drama

I dont knotice anything different tbh, i can now understand some of the symptoms ive had over the years

One site identified a health bonus, in that studies show people with Gilberts have a lower risk of heart disease due to the excess BillyR in the blood stream

It did give me a bit of concernwhen they first spotted it.. given that billyR is a liver related function ....

I have it too Mart. It was diagnosed some years ago and when the consultant mentioned liver I thought the end is nigh, lol. I must have looked extremely worried because the consultant soon put me at ease by explaining it's harmless.
