iPad smart cover...
So I have the original iPad. I purchased a genuine smart cover and the instructions say; clip on the side with magnets... Sounds simple, you think!
I can't get it to stick at all.
The only thing I can thinknof is that it's for iPad 2???
Help

Yes, smart covers only work with iPad2 - the iPad 1 doesn't have the internal magnets for it to work.
I thought it was pretty obvious that it was only for the iPad2? I guess not...

I have a netbook. I use it for surfing the net, works perfectly, I'm very happy with it and it didn't cost eleventy billion squid nor did I get brainwashed when I bought it

You did get brainwashed, you've just forgotten it. You probably believe your fingers fit the keyboard and the processor from a telephone is good enough.
Please don't tell me you can't understand iPads but see a place for Netbooks. LOL.

Sure the keyboard isn't as nice as a proper keyboard but in no way do I struggle, and my hands are huge! For surfing, yes, the processor is fine....well I assume it, is, I switch it on and it does stuff that I want it to do.
Yes I do understand iPads, they cost a lot and people who use twitter have them.

I've got one too as well as an iPad. Its as fast as my wifes old Toshiba 3ghz Celeron laptop and its so small and weighs little its great to take on holiday and use as a backup for camera photos with the built in SD card reader.

I purchased it assuming they were all the same, clearly not. It's a lime green colour and will post it for £15.00 to anywhere in the uk. It's a genuine apple one.
I didn't buy the iPad I won it ... They are crap tbh I just like the aps.
I Could do the duct tape route if it doesn't sell...

A £150 Netbook from ASDA 3 years ago, with only 512MB RAM and an Intel Atom runs just great with a bit of geekery to run a cut down build of XP which does most stuff but loads with 256MB RAM free, 120 GB hard drive had 117 GB free after installation. It has never crashed, it browses nicely including flash, takes an SD card, has a webcam, USB ports, monitor port without a fancy cable, joins network and can print, runs Office, I can type on the keyboard at 60+wpm and run proper PC software on it rather than "apps" that are for toys like the iPad. Trying to open a spreadsheet with Numbers on the iPad or Excel on the netbook is no contest. The iPad chokes on it and the netbook loads Excel in about 1 second, with the file appearing a second or so later.
Sorry, I use it and the Kindle more than our iPad (v1, not repeating the mistake for more Apple junk) when I want to be portable.

You can't please everyone john. No problem with Numbers here, snappy and a pleasure to use, instant on as well which you probably didn't factor into your 1 second loading claim.
Enjoy your Geekery, I'm sure it's enthralling.

Please don't start the Dyno, Over-Cocking big numbers talk, I have a two year old iPhone here with lower numbers all over it that out performs many Android phones. Think of it as power to weight were weight is a superior operating system.

My netbook only take 5 seconds to boot from sleep mode or around 15 seconds from being switched off. Not exactly an age is it Jack.
So hang on, my netbook which cost me less than half the price of the iPad, with a 200mhz faster processor, 4 times the amount of ram, a 120gb hard drive, an sd card reader, 3 usb ports, wifi, 10 inch screen, a keyboard and the ability to rest it on your lap and type with two hands is nothing compared to the iPad?
Jog on Jack, jog on!

You're right, it is nothing, nothing but a shrunken underpowered laptop. Where's the innovation, where's the gesture based control, where's the SSD? And most importantly, where's the apps designed for a Netbook? Comparing a cutting edge Tablet supported by major software developers to a cheap Fisher Price Laptop is a bit nuts. Why do you think they're not being made any more?? It was a fad.
Resting the iPad on my Lap, Desk, in my hands and typing is natural or I just press the power button on my Bluetooth Keyboard.
