Walking boots
I'm looking for the above. Criteria is waterproof and comfy straight out of the box, though price isn't important I'm not looking to spend a fortune.
I'm not going walking in hills mountains etc. I'm going to NY for a week and will be walking a lot and don't want to end up with blisters etc on the first day. I usually wear trainers and shoes so don't own any of the above type boot/shoe so thought I'd use this as a chance to get a decent pair.
I've seen these and are at the moment the likely buy. Scoobynet opinions as always will be welcomed

Hi mate,
To be honest, I would steer clear of boots for walking around new york. Boots will be heavy (due to needing extra support for hills / mountains etc) and will make your feet pretty sweaty. Trainers would be ok, but will wear out fairly quickly, so I'd go for a mid-way solution such as this...

There are others on there or available from other websites that are made for slightly lighter use, but I don't know what you plan on doing / going to whilst in New york. Hope this helps buddy.

Ooops, forgot to mention mate, I would also order / buy them as soon as possible, that way you can wear them in before you go. If you get to New York and have blisters by the second day, its gonna ruin your trip a bit.

Some lightweight cross type boots like Hitec would suit you, good for walking, comfortable, easier to break in than proper boots etc, downside is that they dont last as long

you're not going into hills mountains etc, cuts out really the need for hiking boot, you need something urban, salomon,or the north face hedgehog footwear.

I have had the lot, and i only buy these bad boys now.
You can have them on all day, and you don't even notice it.

These will last you for years.

another vote here for brasher boots. i had a pair of these about 10 yrs ago and was very impressed by the standard. can take a real pounding and polish up like new everytime. dont look out of place with a pair of jeans on either.

It is quite wearing waliking around US cities as I know from my own experience. I certainly would not think that mountaineering type boots would be best because of their weight etc. I think you should look for a lighter but comfortable pair of walking shoes.

Any walking boots you get are going to need breaking in, otherwise you will have blisters after the first hour, i would sugest you also purchase a couple of pairs of 1000 mile anti-blister socks or use a liner sock and an outer pair, and even with this combo you will still need to clock up 50 miles in them before they bed in nicely.
