They will have to learn that when the politicians allow the country's finances to go down the tubes for the sake of their own careers then there is no option but to accept a long period of recovery.
Same sort of thing that has happened to this country of course, but the Greeks as yet are a lot closer to the perilous default at the moment.

I wrote a huge wall of text explaining several things about the situation here but then I thought "who am I to try and inform you about the real situation?". It is pointless. So I deleted my post.
Just have in your mind that when you aren't that well informed or only informed from sources that serve hidden purposes then you can't really say anything about such a weird situation that has its roots waaaayy back in time (1980s).

i really feel for the average greek "joe" on the street.
so many years of corruption and greed along with stupidity on their leaders parts have left them fcked.
and as a consequence possibly alot of others.
over the years so many politicians and associates have abused there standing to amass personal wealth - in all countries, there worse than the vilest drug dealers - just criminals who have largley been left to themselves.
yes some have done good, and i applaud those that have. it must be difficult to do so when surrounded by constant corruption and lies,
but the rest of the corrupt lying ***** should get what they deserve.

Not saying it's not a historical problem, in fact that's the very reason it's such a problem now.
But the central point has not changed. Greeks need to get used to a lower standard of living for the forseeable future. Why it takes attacks against the Police to try and prove otherwise is simply beyond me. The world has changed.

At the moment all we see is Germany bending over backwards to keep Greece afloat (and presumabnly stop things from being even worse) and ther Greek populace either being ungrateful or (TBH) down right stupid in the way they are going about this.
Not sure how bringing down Germany and the rest of the world economy is a good thing for Greece to want to do.
Fight the internal fight but take the help and move on to something better.

Greece has defaulted about 9 times since the late 1800s. Spain is the highest in a similar period at about 14 times. France and Germany have done it a few times and the UK hasn't since 1066.
The first recorded country to default on its was infact Greece BC. Although at the time I think in the UK we were living in **** and eating turnips.
Apparently.
