Default Joining up cat5 cable?

I'm having some work done on the house and thought it might be worthwhile to take the opportunity to run some cat5. Not quite sure why except everybody seems to tell me to do it

Anyway, if I misjudge some of the lengths is it possible to join cat5 cable?

Thanks

You can but it is easier to use home plugs instead, more flexible too.

A continuous run will give better all round performance than using joiners.
