Default UK too expensive?

Sure people will post crap like 'well, you should live in blah blah blah then you would know misery!'

However,I earn about £12k more than I did two years ago.

Can hardly afford to eat, insure the car,tax the car, heat the house, buy anything. It's like the war in our house! No heating, brisket instead of beef super cut.Bloody hell, typed this and Vince Cable just said it!!!! Like the war!!

Mind you,those **** lightbulbs don't help!

Even child benefit being stopped.Another £130 down the pan and they have just put the frigging gas and electric bill up!! *******

How could we go from so rich to just so poor

Feel skint

Try living in Zurich - everything is pretty much twice the price.

The hookers are fabulous though - not like the skanks you get here

Thank god for my Mam and the help she gives us. If it wasn't for her, it would be a real struggle. You have had a wage increase higher than what I earn a year, full time before anyone asks.

Just had a payrise which should help loads, makes me £3 a week better off But before anyone says anything, I am lucky enough to at least have a job.

We're lucky (for now) as we have a bit help, but if you think things are bad for you, think about people who are right down at the bottom of the pay scale with nobody to give a little help. It's possible to get by, but they will be the people really struggling to eat/keep warm etc.

You want to try having Oil heating. I phoned to order today and changed my mind. Will wait for a few days. I asked why it had gone up in the last two days. She said because the Oil companies had got wind we were in for bad weather, so they put the price up. No one regulates it and it goes up and up.

I don't understand your post, what are you saying has made you go from rich to poor? We have highish inflation at the moment but your pay has gone up £12k over two years so if you were comfortable two years ago I can't understand why you are struggling now

I sympathise with you, but compared to general conditions just after WW2, we are still enjoying a much higher standard of living. Now that really was the dark ages...try looking it up.

I left my previous employers after not having a cost of living rise for three years on the trot, and no sign of any pay rise on the horizon. I was really struggling.

We aren't exactly struggling as yet but it wouldn't take much - and I'm borderline higher rate tax. Wifes hair salon has had its worst month since we took over in May 2010 and she takes less a week than we pay even the trainees. We knew the lease was probably too high but we agreed it anyway so no one to blame but ourselves there.
