I think one gets to a point where everything is viewed with cynicism.

Guys, guys, I'm out here alone. The evenings are dark and cold. One room in the house is heated........the computer and TV are in there.
The TV has mainly terrestrial channels via satellite, and on weekends, is much the same as other TV channel...........the people in charge of what gets transmitted assume EVERYONE is out.....not so. I WOULD be if there was ANYWHERE to go. Remember "pubs" don't exist here.

I can only sit and read for so long.

So that leaves the computer.........and Scoobynet.

And what better way to get stuff to read than to post stuff first?

I thought you lot would be OK with that, and a help with my loneliness.
Seems not, then.

Reminds me a bit of when my American cousin came to stay in Edinburgh for 6 months a few years back. He rented out a cheap wee room in a C1900 basement flat. I was shocked when I visited - it was cold (couldn't afford heating), dark (basement) and damp. He had no TV, but did have his laptop. Oh, he came on the spur of the moment in October, which meant he had the joy of a windy & rainy Scottish winter, having arrived from sunny South Carolina.

He lasted 5 of the 6 months then called me "Andy, I need to get out of here! If I book a flight can you get me to the airport tomorrow?" I took time off and did that.

Although I've visited him, he hasn't been back here!

Alcazar I assure you that you're not alone in noticing the irritating 'Emperor's new clothes' syndrome that pervades our very existence. Marketing hyperbole is at dizzying levels of idiocy. Still there are obviously some that are receptive to this practice otherwise it wouldn't exist. Those of us who see it for what it is can only marvel at why it still works. Inside every cynic is an idealist.

A bit. Except Alcazar seems to be in a more desperate situation than the villagers who are being subjected to bullying, extortion, and murder in the film. You see, he's a bit lonely.

Don't listen to some people on here, post away as much as you like.

Tbh, I quite like reading your threads. It makes me happy to know there is someone else as grumpy as me (well, maybe more)
