Scoobs

There is a great Tandoori place in York, but cant remember the name.

It is called something like Tandoori Knights or something. It is only small ish, but the guys there are great and the food excellent - especially the mixed Balti.

Plenty of pubs etc

Scoob, My girlfreind lives in York, just next to the town centre, to be honest all the pubs are great, food is great no matter where you go BUT ive been to one club in york and it was poo.
DO NOT go to Icon&Diva, its more like a kiddies nursery in that place cos its full of 15 year olds
But if your stuck for somewhere then pop round for a beer!

PS. Try not to wake the missus

i suppose you could do (if coming from the station) Edwards, then Yates, O'Neil's, casa, pitcher and piano, bar 38, varsity, Kennedy's, the slug and lettuce. Then either The Gallery or Toffs i wouldn't go to either Ikon and Diva or Ziggys (although the bloke who owns ziggys does have a metro 6R4). As for food there are lots of good Indians, Chinese's and a very good Mexican. If you want i can do you a map of where stuff is just drop me a mail.

Cannot beat Spice 21 - the best curry house i have been to - and i live in Brum so i have high standards.

Clubs consist of Gallery - cheesy, two main dance area's with different theme, dark and dusky soul or R+B type and main stream dance above.

Ikon Diva, cheesy and dancy, two different sections, more ppl than Gallery. Stag do would work better in Diva since more women, strike out in one half and hit the other side Does food also i remember inside the club, its a little out of town at a shopping centre, a bus runs from the cinema / pitcher and piano area thats free.

Toffs - utter ****e, don't go.

Pubs - quite a few good ones, pitcher and paino, the other one next to it, bar 38, they are the two main ones, both possess good talent and the studenty one which is yates or something. Its near the square with the cafe's on it near McDs. You should find it from there, u can see it nearly. Its up from pitcher towards the square on same side. Follow the student women

York is a top night!

Btw really top place to stay for novelty sake is the hotel which is a converted train just outside York. Its on way to RAF Linton on Ouse. Should find it in the yellow pages, can anyone remember the name? The staff are tops and the hotel will really add to your weekend, well worth the taxi's into town!

York!? - Don't go, it s asimple as that!

Went there for a mates birthday in Febuary and found it to be pretty poor. The pubs are reasonable, mostly the same as my home town, but the atmosphere wasn't up to much. As for night clubs, they are a joke! - We ended up going to Ikno and Diva on a free bus and left after an hour, it was that poor!

Everyone we talked to, when they found out where we'd come from (Newcastle), said we should have stopped there as it is one of the best nights out around! - I tend to agree!

So in conclusion, lol, save your money and go somewhere else! - Newcastle !

its odd as we tend to have the full content of both boro and newcastle down here on a weekend and that tends to be why the atmos is crap due to the fact the locals dont go where you lot go ! we tend to actually go to the pubs not Bar, but york is full of students but they come here for the pubs and bars (aswell as it been one of the top uni's in the country) but it really does just boild down to what u want from a night out. I agree newcastle aint a bad night out but it costs more than york and i really didnt feel safe at all in newcastle. You could try leeds but that costs more than Newcastle.

The Bigg market!? - Havent been since I was 17. For the best night out, try the Quayside. Fair enough its a bit more expensive than the Bigg market, buy hey! - you pay for what you get!

Plus I'm used to paying it now, it just seems the normal price to pay!

ah well i wont be off down your way if spice 21 is better than the ones near you its not bad but it aint the best.

Also the gallery does food (wouldn't eat it tho) but id recommend a nice Double Oki special from the kebab van out side waterstones bookshop close to the gallery.
Dont go to the willow restaurant at any point of your visit or you will never leave the loo it really is bad food.

Music in the gallery depends on what night u go ranges from house, pop, northen soul, hip hop, RnB to metal.

The place your on about is called the Sidings website http://www.trains2c.co.uk/ it will cost you about £15 to get into town
