Read my original post again

I know it works on 3GS

I just wanted to have a play with it.

Got a couple of workmates on it who live within 20 km - fancied testing it further afield (if you're up for a temporary test?)

Have asked a friend in Philadelphia to sign up also

Go on - give it a test

Jack - How would YOU define the attributes that differentiate friend from pal / colleague etc?

Let's start with the basics, some random on Scoobynet, not a friend.

No offence but if some of the geeks on here knew where I was it would cause a riot.

Yes, it's tracking of your friends, works with wifi too.

Is it like the old google thing that android used to have (and that's not meant to be some sort of 'android had it before apple', i just genuinely don't know what it is).

Well it's a good point that it wasn't an "android had it before apple" thing then wasn't it

i can't believe people think this is a good idea. i rarely want anyone to know where i am and be able to find me at any time. friend or not and i include most family in that too.

I can see major rows ensuing between partners/husbands/wives/boyfriends/girlfriends if this app is used!

I wonder how many suspicious folk will start trying to use it purely to spy on their other-halves?

Find my iPhone has been causing breakups for quite a while now

iMessage will cause more trouble, lots and lots of couples sharing an iTunes account that don't realise that iMessages will display on all logged in devices, I'm sure there will be a ton of slip ups with that one.

OT OW... only messing. its getting worse out there isn't it. Gone are the days of her finding just a text.. now they can find the entire convo not just on facebook but on yur Ipad, laptop & phone. Best behave... until theres a cheater app

Serious though.. Cheating is bad..

It is interesting and quite scary. It does work quite well and iMessage is great. Both are good reasons to buy into the Apple brand as a family (free texts, locate your children etc...). Now, Android of course has something similiar but it isn't switched on or in fact installed by default. And people like my wife do not want to install and switch something on, they just want it there ...

The scary part is that there is no excuse not to let your spouse/girlfriend see where you are. It is like the government -- if you are not doing anything wrong, then why do you care?

as much as i love my wife we are not joined at the hip and i don't want her tracking my every move. this would also have far wider safety issues with my work which i won't go into as well.
