1000mg good quality vit c (Pharma Nord, solgar etc) every 6 hours better than any drug which is why the drug companies tried to have all high strength vitamins banned, once everyone figures it out they're screwed. For colds take Zinc also.

I'm just coming out of a near death experience with man flu. Nose and sinus issues at the moment, but the sore throat was the real killer for me.
Got bugger all sleep for two nights as it was just so painful to swallow - a magnitude more painful than child birth by any man’s measurement.
As it is now, I just have to keep removing phlegm from the back of my throat which has strands of blood in it. Jolly nice.

It's outrageous that the NHS hasn't taken steps to help with this killer disease.
We need special wards away from family, wife & kids as this could easily spread. Can you imagine what it would do to a woman or a small child?
The wards need to be in warm dry climates to alleviate the worst symptoms,Seychelles,Bahamas would seem to be ideal locations of the top of my head.
Patients should be attended only by the youngest & fittest nurses as they will have greater immunity.Full Sky & gaming packages should be provided to try & take your mind of the terrible suffering.
The NHS & Government need to sort this out. It's a national disgrace.
