Top Gear USA
I thought my eyes were playing games last night when on BBC3 they had top gear USA. I turned over but quickly fell asleep so couldn't tell weather it was a UK one taking the mick out of the USA version...
I jump on I player and all 1 -5 USA versions are showing

Watched one, and was relieved to actually see them reviewing cars, unlike our TG these days : However, averaging 30mph in an Evo X wasn't particularly challenging on one feature, and then their critique of the Aston V8 Vantage not having enough power, then failing to realise that the V12 with just 40bhp more actually has lower power to weight than the V8, that the V12 only wins the drag race on torque, and that the V8 wil handle massively better due to that lower weight showed the typical narrow mindedness you'd expect from both a motoring journo and a Merkin.

In a number of ways its better! If you can ignore the stupid Americanisms/Americanness then it has some merit.
They certainly manage a higher standard of driving, although its far from original, even for a non-original programme (I watched the skydiver vs. the offroader last night, predicting that the parachutist would just win - impressive: unless youve seen the Porsche Cayenne 'challenge').

I quite like it too - the UK TG has become a parody of itself with too many attempts at being funny/clever and Clarkson being t1t in general.
It has the feel of a program where they are told what the format is and must stick to it but it's surprisingly watchable - I thought I'd turn off after 5 minutes and never take a 2nd glance at it again.

yeah I saw it too. My biggest complaint was the interview with Buzz Aldrin in the pilot. They only asked him one question!
Apart from that, like as said, it's surprisingly watchable, I did like the moonshine runners feature and Tanner Foust is surprisingly good on screen. The less said about that inbred monkey in the beard and the glasses the better though.

It's a bit surprising - if I was now asked : Is the USA Top Gear better than the UK Top Gear program ? then I might actually answer well, generally Yes it is - I think that says more about the poor UK program than the great USA one tbh.
I've the feeling that the UK one will still, on occasion, pull out a really great feature / program whereas the USA one is just an overall decent watch

Watching for the first time at the moment on BBC3. I'm not really sure what to make of it; it's the episode with the 3 x $5k 'expensive' cars and the GT2 RS. On the one hand I was impressed that they managed to get entire street systems closed down to dick about on, but then they've adopted this weird facsimile of the British version's humour. They even do the crash thing. Bizarre.

MUCH better than UK version.
If scripted then they at least know how to deliver their lines.
The episode with the old American trucks was great viewing, and the new American trucks one with the chevy, ram & ford was worth it for the donuts alone
Great entertainment
Just as uk top gear used to be

I watched half an episode yesterday, where they had a 'race' between a California and a Cadalac Wagon. What a joke, the Ferrari didnt even start moving untill the wagon was a cars length ahead.
The features they do are a shamless copy of all the British TG ones, theres not an ounce of originality in the american version, which is a shame, as I think they have the opportunity to make a good American version. The 'conversations' they have with each other are cringeworthy, and yeh the **** in the glasses needs to jump of a cliff asap

The reason it's a shameless copy of british Top Gear is because thats what they buy from Mr Clarkson. He owns the rights to the Top Gear name sand he sells a 'formula' to tv companies round the world. They have a limited scope to play around with the programme but thats why it's been so popular round the world....
I've seen a few episodes of the US version and it's ok i wouldn't set Sky+ to record it but if i see it i'll stick it on.

Series 2 they don't have the set anymore, they stand outside the warehouse and do links.
They also have a habit of saying "seriously?" to one another far too often, SERIOUSLY! ...
