Default Does low blood pressure = cold hands etc?

Due to my suspected TIA before Christmas, I'm now on TWO tablets daily for blood pressure, Olmesartan and Clopidogrel, (who thinks of these names?)

However, at my last visit to the specialist, he and the nurse who took it remarked that my blood pressure was low: 105 over 55.

I have noticed recently that my hands are now cold unless I am activley using them, which they NEVER were before.

Is this linked?

Cold hands are due to peripheral vasoconstriction / shutdown and not low blood pressure as such. You need to measure your capillary refill time of the nailbed (google it).

Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet drug which stops small clots forming (like aspirin).

Ah, thanks, no connection then.
Although it could be due to one of the OTHER EIGHT things I have to take daily.

Rattle? Me? Surely not?

Well known side effect from beta blockers, but not particularly the two you list.

Feel free to list the meds, or read the leaflets and check side effects.

Low BP at that sort of level wouldn't usually give cool peripheries, usually dizziness, especially on standing is what to look out for.

I nearly always have cold hands and feet out of the house. I have 14% body fat and normal/low blood pressure. I reckon it's the lack of body fat though.

Your BP will vary over the course of the day/night. A one off reading is not particularly helpful, if you really want to know what is going on with your BP a 24hr/7day monitor is needed.

I ought to have known that, but had forgotten. I had to do a week's check before my meds were decided.

So:
Full list:
Olmesartan. x1
Lipitor x1
MST Continus 15mg x2
Gabapentin x3
Clopidogrel x1
Lansoparazole x1
Cetirizene Hydrochloride x1
Paracetamol when needed.

I was on Ramipril, but it was stopped.
I have been banned from taking Ibuprofen.
I used to take aspirin, but Clopidogrel seems to have been substituted.

None of those, off the top of my head, are well known for causing cool hands, but have a read through each leaflet as some of them will probably list this as a less common side effect.

I know what your problem is, its winter and its freezing, I prescribe the central heating, to be switched on twice a day in a combination therapy with some thick socks and a large dose of MTFU

After I had a heart operation, I was on Beta Blockers for some reason even though my blood pressure went pretty low after recovery from the operatron.

My BP was down to about 90 and a couple of times I collapsed unconcious after getting up from my chair. I persuaded them that I did not need the blockers any more and my BP is 120/70 or so. I do have a bp measurer at home. Never had any further collapso problems.

My hands are on the cold side for interest's sake.

Yesterday, I was lying on my bed, fully clothed, under the duvet.
The heating was on.....ask Andy how warm our house is...

And my hands, holding a book, were freezing

Nice idea though

Some good ideas, plus some funny ones too.

I, too, like the idea of a collapso.......I once played Stanley Unwin at darts......we lost, as we couldn't concentrate for laughing.

We, the poor students, had to buy the beer.

But he did come back the next night and treat us.

Do you know, I was wondering who that reminded me of when I typed it!

He did make me laugh too.
