Employment law: the P45?
My youngest worked his summer holidays from university for a company who do large store overnight refits....you know, the people who move stuff around so nothing is where it was last time you went in?
Anyway, they sent him what he thought was a P45 when he finished with them.
However, now he's been to the tax office, to enquire about claiming the tax back, THEY tell him it's not a real P45 and that it only shows him paying £90 in tax, where his PAYSLIPS show over £350.
He has written to the company asking for his proper P45 and has not had a reply after ten days despite sending his letter recorded.
Are they in breach of employment law?
If so, how do we force them to do as they must?
Thanks.

Not a real P45? What does it say on it then? If it says 'P45' then surely you can get the police involved as it would amount to some form of fraud. But see here ... http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTax...ax/DG_10013512 ... for what they should look like and advice.
Have you tried ringing them yet?
