Bus Driver jailed for knocking down cyclist !!

After watching the video I'd personally throw away away the keys and let the ****** rot
Awaits the SN anti-cycling brigade to come along and say that the cyclist deserved it and they would have done the same
Edited to add that a smack in the mouth would have probably served the cyclist right if he was acting like a **** but having a bus rammed against you is a little bit extreme !

If there was an previous altercation, it should be on teh Bus's built in CCTV (usually with audio) It'd be interesting to hear what was said to get someone so red-misted.
No smoke without fire and all that.
But it goes to show, meer words can tip people over the edge with potentially lethal consequences.

It looks like that cyclist was hogging the entire lane, causing the bus and many other vehicles behind him drive at slow cycling speed. Who's to say that he wasn't hogging that lane for 1 mile back because we only see a few seconds of CCTV footage?
Regardless, what the bus driver did was totally unacceptable and I suppose he just snapped. I admit, if I was behind a cyclist hogging up a lane, I'd be very angry and honking my horn/swearing, but I wouldn't try to run him down!

I dislike bus drivers and cyclists equally so I am not sure about this. On one hand I have noticed lately the bus drivers round here getting irate if anything holds them up and have tried to have words with one or two. On the other hand the actual behavior of some cyclists I see is unbelievable and some of them clearly need to understand the harsh fact of life about who wins in a head on crash between a car and a bike.

I just watched the video again and it looks like the cyclist swerves to block the bus from overtaking, all things considered I am starting to think the cyclist deserved it.
Before people get too uppity I cycle as well but I would say 99% of drivers I come across are very good so I don't share the militant 'car drivers are always wrong' mentality.

Only yesterday I witnessed a bus driver barge out of a stop into traffic, and head straight on at two crossroads (almost running me over at the first), all with his left indicator blinking away
I've lost count of the cyclists I've had confrontations with when they've flown through pedestrian crossings, jumped lights, or mounted pavements with no thought to the safety of themselves or others

Deserve might be a bit strong, what I mean is that if a cyclist stops to give me abuse about a manouver I think is perfectly safe then rides off up the road and swerves about to block my path then I am going to lose my temper and hit him without a doubt. It is inevitable.

It certainly looks like the cyclist was being a *** but that does't mean the bus driver should try and kill him.
Cyclists don't seem to understand how vulnerable they are on the road when they are acting like aggressive twots. I had one shouting at screaming at me because i nearly hit him when he sailed straight through a red light

a bit like wifebeating and hitting women - no excuse, ever
yes, like cyclists they can be annoying, but it always says more about you
and intersting the thread sits below the Andythejocks RIP thread

I cycle and make a point of being courteous and not holding anyone up, I have been treated pretty well by and large but remember if you think you have got away with treating a cyclist badly, sometimes you get caught in traffic, sometimes you get out at the shops having fogoteen and get confronted by a big, angry, panting ******* and get all apologetic when you don't have an E class Merc round you.......

Some road warrior stops his bike on front of you rests his bike on your car then starts shouting abuse, after a shouting match he then gets on his bike and swerves around the road stopping you from overtaking, how many miles do you think you would swallow that for before saying **** it and knocking him off his bike ? Personally I think the bus driver should have just smacked his back wheel to knock him off then carried on his way. There is a certain type of cyclist who needs to learn about potential consequences, this is neither the first nor last instance of a cyclist trying to block a car from overtaking.
