As nice as it was to watch F1 on the BBC, I think that using licence fees to pay for a "sport" that is basically a huge marketing exercise with the aim of making B. Ecclestone very rich was rather dubious from an ethical point of view..
Sky or ITV are more appropriate vehicles for such an exercise IMO.

**** Murdoch! You can keep your HD and your brain dead presenters (I guarantee it will be fronted by some complete **** and a dumb bitch with big ****) I REFUSE to line the pockets of a morally bankrupt, tax dodging, phone hacking walking corpse!
I will not watch F1 on sky. Under any circumstances. I refuse.

You cant moan about Murdoch making money from F1 with Bernie at the wheel. Bernie is just as slippery.
I also think it was the BBC that caused what we have now because they could not afford F1 and felt the license fee should be better spent on sh1te like The Voice.

I looked at this a little more pragmatically - despite the fact I don't want to give Murdoch any more money I wasn't going to let that red mist come down!
BBC will have 10 full races in HD, and some of these are (my) choice races, UK, Spa, Monaco, Brazil. I do try to watch every race, but in reality I rarely get up to watch Australia, Malaysia, China etc. Then when the day races clash with family outings, events etc I sometimes miss those too.
So I perhaps watch on 12 to 15 live a year and the rest on highlights. This would have been satisfied by BBC highlights anyway.
Perhaps some people watch every race live, but surely with 19/20 a year (plus all the qualy sessions and build up/practice) I wonder if some people really get time to watch all that and get on with the rest of their lives.
So actually I think you can quite easily say no to Murdoch and get an F1 fix through BBC.
Though FWIW I upgraded my Virgin package to include Sky F1 anyway! So I'm not directly paying Murdock (does that count?).

Whatever your principles allow you to do, I reckon Sky will make it a lot more interesting than it's been to-date. We'll see!

I reckon it'll be free with the HD/Sports packages for this year, and next year they'll start charging for the channel, once everyone has 'come round' to the idea of Sky having it and seeing all the effort they've put into it so far. This year will be a 'teaser'. IMO of course

If you subscribe to any of the sports packages it will be free.

I guess I'll have to give this place a miss too, since some people can't help posting the result.
